Folks, once again I am sponsoring a Contest at PaceAdvantage.com - the RDSS 2016 Ridersup Memorial Aqueduct Inner Pick 4 Challenge (http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=104).

The Contest runs weekends and Holidays and involves selections in either the Early or the Late Pick4 wager at Aqueduct Inner throughout the winter meet.

The Prize Fund is $400, as follows:

Main Prize Money Distribution :
1st Place - $200.00
2nd Place - $125.00
3rd Place - $75.00

Plus: $300 additional BONUS prizes to the Top 3 finishers if they are also RDSS Subscribers as at March 1, 2016:

1st Place - $150 bonus prize
2nd Place - $100 bonus prize
3rd Place - $50 bonus prize

There is no signup required but you DO have to be a registered member at PaceAdvantage. PaceAdvantage is a general interest handicapping discussion forum (register here: www.paceadvantage.com (http://www.paceadvantage.com)). You don't have to play every week, but you do have to play at least 10 days to qualify for prizes.

Here is the Contest Forum where you can read the rules and make your selections in threads dedicated to each Contest day: http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=104

If you are having trouble signing up (or it's delayed), just let me know and I'll try to light a few fires over there ...

I placed 2nd in this Contest in 2014 (only because there is a $5000 cap on payoffs: I hit 2 of those for over $20,000 actual total). I am planning to bet cash on my Pick 4 selections this year!

Good luck, good skill to everyone!

Of course, I am doing this to showcase the effectiveness of RDSS and to get a bit of (though not TOO much) new business. Also to demonstrate some of the new toys in the upcoming RDSS 2.1. I will be releasing more info here first, of course, including some videos, screen shots and a feature list and road map for where I want to go for 2016. Stay tuned in January!

Speaking of promoting RDSS, I want to mention a Poll at PaceAdvantage where people have identified their main software tool. Some of you will have already signed this poll (Thank You!) and RDSS is listed right at the top in popularity. If you have not signed the poll and would like to show your support, may I encourage you to go over to PaceAdvantage (again, you have to register) and sign the Poll.

The Poll is --> HERE (http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125297).

Hey This contest sounds great.
Ted, can you give an example of how you usually
stucture your pick 4 tickets
I hit one pick 4 a few years ago in the PA contest .
I went 4󫶘3 I think it cost $192
It paid 23,000 which was good enough for 4th place finish
and a baseball hat .

Hi Bill,

I hope it was a gold-braided baseball hat ...

Here was my selection from 12/14/2013,

Late Pick 4

$12 -- 2-10 / 3-12 / 1-5 / 1-15 = $192
$1 -- 2/3/1/1-2-3-4-7-8-12-15 = $8

= $200 (10-3-5-1 paid $14,262)

Your basic 'cave man' approach! It helped I had the horses in a lucky 2x2x2x2 format, though that is not usually the case. I don't want to do that this year. Instead, I have been working with several Pick 3,4,5,6 ticket construction tools to optimize tickets given a ranking system for race contenders (the A-B-C, single, concept) and some other optimization concepts, and for a stated wager budget. I am trying to see how I can include these horizontal wager construction tools in RDSS over the course of 2016, integrated with the Analysis screens and connected to various ADW file upload queues (for automatic submission).

So that's one of the reasons I am interested in this Contest - the formality of actually working on these ideas on a regular basis. (Plus I need the money ;) ).

Looking forward to seeing you there!

This weekend's standings won't go up until tomorrow or Tuesday, but with a win on Friday and again today, I think I've caught up to Dick Mathie (rmath), who won big last weekend; and we both should be in the top five.:D
If anyones interested, I'm canadagoose over on PA.

Congratulations! The key was getting that $30 horse in Race 8. It came up looking pretty good on the BL screen and on the CR Class Rating ranks (3rd). It looked good on all the Late ratings too.

(Use default settings, BLT/C automatic Paceline selection strategy; eliminate by Total Energy to Top 5, but prefer to keep top 3 CR class horses and CSR horses).

I just checked the standings. Barb is third with total of $3597.50 and Richard Mathie is fourth $3,293.00. I knew Richard had hit a big one the other day but hadn't realized how much he had hit. I know they will continue this excellent showing. After all they are using RDSS and Richard is very creative in his application of RDSS. Keep up the good work.

Bob

I didn't play AQU yesterday. But I didn't second guess the ratings in the above display - that's up to the individual (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse ...). Maybe the horse cannot run a lick on dirt. But if he can, the adjusted Speed Ratings convert his last 2 lines quite competitively with the rest, he is running against easier competition and is more consistent than most (higher CR Class Rating), has superior CSR Composite Speed Rating, has GOOD Late ratings and loves to pass horses, looks like he recently alternates Wins with 'vacations' and at NYRA, PLUS ... he is 14-1. Why would you NOT include him among multiple horses in a leg of a Pick 3 or 4.

Horses with no question marks don't pay so much. Seems to me this one had fewer ??? than most: the possibilities were not totally inscrutable.

Anyway, that's what occurs to me. Next time, I hope I bet it :)

Bob

Not usually Bob, but this horse has been running on nothing but turf since last May, with wins at Saratoga and Belmont in higher class races and using the adjusted speed rating botlt , line 2 put him on top on the BL/BL with a 1 VDC. Corollaries suggested he had a good chance. Also, as Ted said, lately he has been running an in-out pattern and Sunday was slated to be an in day.
Usually I'm won't use a turf line in a dirt race, but this is a pick 4 contest and it doesn't cost to take some chances:)
I liked him enough to put a small w,p,s as well.:D.
I don't know the reasoning of the other 5 who used him, but this was mine.

RDSS Players continue to do well in this Contest. This past weekend (Jan 9,10), mezmac hit the Saturday Late Pick 4 for $2533. On Sunday, both The Pook and mowens333 hit the Early Pick 4 for $1155, however inclement weather forced cancellation of the card after the 7th race so according to Contest Rules, NONE of that day's Pick4 results counted for the Contest :(. Hopefully those gentlemen took a little real money home from those early races!

Congratulations everyone! Still trying to hit the board, myself ...

Still plenty of time to get 10 days play in before Mid-March or so, with a 3-day holiday weekend coming up (Jan 16-18).

Hi, Barb, and congrats to all RDSS'ers who caught that late pic4.

I'm not positive, but here is the chart callers account, a happy one if true.

THIRTY
PERCENT three wide in aim of the front, came under a ride five-sixteenths from home, spun just off the inside into upper stretch,
clipped the back heels of CHIEF ASSIGNMENT coming in slightly straightened away as that rival drifted very slightly outwards,
fell heavily to the track, then had a pair of rivals fall over him, cantered off and was secured by outrider and subsequently walked
off under his own power.

I thought he was going to win and give me that $13K win so I could get close to you in the standings, next time maybe.

Keep Up the HOT streak, making your son proud as you always do.
All the Best,

John

Dick, LOL, there are several other RDSS users who are playing who have not yet hit the board ;).

But yes, with a tentative finish date of mid-to-late March (when Aqueduct switches back to the Main Track) there is still time to get in the minimum 10 plays for prize qualification (though beware sudden race cancellations due to winter weather ...).

Remember, $400 in prizes to the Top 3 winners, and another $300 in bonuses to those Top 3 who are also RDSS Subscribers as of March 1, 2016.

Just a heads-up re this weekend Jan 23,24 - there is a severe winter storm forecast on the US North East cost, including New York City area, thus a strong likelihood that Saturday and maybe Sunday racing at Aqueduct will be cancelled.

Here is the Contest thread re that, so stay tuned: http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1933250#post1933250

Aqueduct races for Sunday Jan 24 are also cancelled. New York State is in a snow emergency, as is much of the US North East and Atlantic Coast and eastern states.

I hope everyone who lives in those areas can stay safe, off the roads, and warm by the fire with family. You are all now officially honorary Canadians ;)

Tough beat today for player 'pace&go' (aka cigar): the only player holding a live ticket in the final leg of the Late Pick 4 worth $13,857. His horse finishes 2nd by a length ...

Nice 'capping anyway, cigar! Better luck next time (that's the luck part of 'good luck, good skill' ;) )

Had no idea that was our man cigar! Now I feel doubly bummed for him. Great capping picking that 9 in the first leg.

Anyways cigar like I said on the other site better luck next time. Oh so close...
Excellent work. Almost had the $5000 max.

Many players hit the Late Pick 4 Sunday - $288 for $1 (congrats to gfnut getting more on track with a nice paying multiple - $1728 hit). The Early Pick4 paid beer money ($55.50 for the $200 wager), hit by mezmac.

Saturday was a longshot free for all, and no one cashed all day (though cigar deserves a ... 'cigar' for that ~$12K near miss)!

Waiting for updated standings, then will repost them here.

I missed the proceedings this afternoon but it turned out to be a fine blanket finish at the wire for several players who cashed Late for $3,415.50 including several RDSS players (Barb C, gfnut, mezmac, auntjanet). LAP_520 (Larry) - nice hit there as well!

Also mowens showed us how to turn an Early $190 Pick4 into $1500 (bet it 8x).

Mum, back in the lead again. Watch your back next weekend though, dogkatcher looks hungry!

I think this Contest is going to cost me extra ... I am very proud of the performance by all the RDSS players.

Updated leaderboard to follow soon by our fearless Contest managers davew and LAP_520 - a big thanks again to you guys.

One more weekend, I think?

Well thanks Pat (my very good friend and one of my racing buddies) and to you Bob. I've had good teachers since I first started only 8 years ago (Ted, Richie P. and rmath ((also one of my racing buddies now)), and of course the superb RDSS. Am I a proud mother? Barb, nice hit, keep it going.

Hoof, I'm wearing shorts if I pull them up any more Wedgies will set in. Sorry to
disappoint you. Taking the Blinkers off next week to see who's coming at me.

Have a great week. It's all been fun.
Jorts?

You don't disappoint, anyone that uses a horse with a ML of 30/1 and wins, is alright in my book.

Best of luck to all the RDSS users next weekend.

These 3 players were in the Top 10 from almost the very beginning and set the standard and target for most of the rest! Thank you so much for your consistent and profitable play (one could base a profitable investment strategy on simply betting your plays!)

Thanks also to all the rest of the players, especially those who played continually and consistently hit prices both large and small!

Thanks also to our Contest Management Team of Larry P and Dave W - you guys made this possible for all of us.

And thanks to PaceAdvantage for providing the venue for this contest again - it is a long standing tradition each winter and I look forward to it next year!

I would also like to extend a special thank you and congratulations to all the RDSS players who responded to my invitation to play this year. 5 of the Top 10, and 8 of the Top 20 ain't bad.

(Interesting factoid: all 3 Prize Winners are Canadians - but you still get paid in US dollars!)

Until next year ...

Awesome work RDSS clan! What you did is especially cool to me because frankly I am HORRIBLE on the inner, to the point I dont even look at AQU inner.

A very special shout to Barb C!!!! Beside being my 2nd Mom who I can always turn to for advice and counseling she is one HECK of a Capper of horses! I have worked races with her privately and she has advanced WAY beyond me and is consistent in both her capping and wagering which is most important!

I'd like to offer my congratulations to FunkyMonday for winning the top spot for this year. I didn't know he was Canadian too. Way to go!

And to all the RDSS users. I think we acquitted ourselves well. Congratulations all round.

I also would like to give a big thanks to Larry P , Dave W, Pace Advantage and last, but by no means least to Ted for making this contest possible. It's something I look forward to every year.

Richie P. No way I could ever be better than you, but thanks for saying that teach. :) :)

Thanks Ted, Dave, and Lap for the winter fun.

Congratulations to Barb and Mezmac from RDSS and FunkyMonkey for the win. To all my fellow RDSS users I salute you, as many of us placed quite well in the standings.

I have never played the Pick4 but learned a bit doing it in this contest. As Bill V. mentioned somewhere else on this site you want to be on horses that could win more than horses that should win. Win sequences like 4's and 6's are a little too lottery like in real life for me but I know they are doable since the big guys like Beyer and Crist play them almost exclusively.

In the realm of this contest however with the duration and cap in place, the cream for the most part rose to the top.

Looking forward to next year,
Pook

The cream did indeed rise to the top and what a gracious response from another participant. I am so pleased for my friend Barb. She did an exceptional job and my other fellow handicapper Richard Mathie who didn't too badly either. Congratulations to all RDSS users who have the good sense to use the best handicapping program on the market. I don't know what to make of all these Canadians who performed in such an exemplary fashion, must be something in the water.

If I may , Congrats Barb

Thanks Ted and as your Mom said this is a very fun contest and glad I did not totally miss it this year. Great RDSS showing, maybe next year I can do better, but I am happy with where I ended up, it was fun.

Thanks

Thank you and congratulations to you Patrick. 9th is not too shabby after your roller coaster ride of the past couple of years. Keep on truckin' (pardon the pun) and we'll see you next year. :)
