I was just messing around today with some speed figure calculations and wondering if anyone knows what the speed figure was for this race (DRF/Brisnet/Equibase)
3/19/2021
Race 1 6 Furlongs 1:12.80
SF#1 Calculation: 100-20 (20pts off) =80
SF #2 Calculation 1:12.80-1:08.4(3yr BT)= 4.4x5=22 100-22=78
Just wanting to know if I am on the right track on doing speed figures
Thanks all!

Thank you, Ted! Do you think my formulas are off-kilter or are they about the right to play around with?

Sorry Conley - I don't really have an opinion anymore on making Speed Ratings. There are so many great ratings out there, including TrackMaster/Equibase, BRIS, TimeFormUS, HDW etc including the Adjusted Speed Rating RDSS derives from Equibase including ITV and DTV adjustments. I just don't feel the need any more (well, since 20+ years) to do the heavy lifting of creating and maintaining my own speed ratings.
I also don't grow my own food - LoL, preferring to pay others who specialize in that activity ;) I prefer to spend my time in horse racing using good ratings purchased from specialists, leaving me maximum time to concentrate on identifying true contenders and true pretenders which might be over-rated by the crowds (aka the hard work in handicapping), watching the tote board and formulating bets when worth-while.
Not that you should not work on your own Speed Ratings, by any means! Good luck with them :thumb:

Ted, where did you find the EB SR for each horse a day after the race?
I don't see that in EB charts.
Thanks,

Tom, it's in the XML format Chart Files which RDSS (or other software consumers of those data) gets from TrackMaster/Equibase. Usually within about 30 minutes of Official.
