I have selected the 4th race Friday night at CT which looks to be a very competitive field. As a matter of fact it includes that horse Fooler that Richie had said a few weeks ago he thought was hurting and they ended up scratching it.This time Hilraldo is listed on it.Jeff

Jeff,

Hello my friend. Now I understand why you did not return my email from a few days ago. It can wait til you return. What matters most is that you are 100%!

I know I speak for all the guys (and at least one gal) here when I say: I wish you a very safe and successful surgery, as well as a quick and full recovery without any complications.

Btw, is this surgery the result of a regular examination; or were there some symptoms which led you to the Doc's office?

All the best!

Jon ;)

Jon,My doctor kept bugging me to get a colonoscopy so I finally got one at 55,I was having no symptoms. They found a tumor on the right side of my colon that was to big for removal at that time so it has to be done surgically. It is pre cancerous but if I would have waited another 2 years it would have been curtains. Thanks for everyone's well wishes IT REALLY DOES MEAN A LOT TO ME and Im sure it will help me get through this.Jeff

Houndog,I agree with you on the 5 I ran it through Energy II.I will use him in an exacta with the 3 and 6.In one of the old tapes on Energy Doc and Hat were talking about when you have a top MUV horse and he is not 1st on the paragon a that these horses are dangerous.Glacken fits this scenario.Jeff

Jeff, I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Take a look at what we were discussing yesterday.

This was a great choice for the Friday night race of the week.
I seem to favor the 4,5 exacta box combination.
I would bet both the 4,5 choices to win, however, I think the 4 might be the single choice or a good key horse.

Get well quick. :D

Shoe,

Good luck with the surgery. Let's have a rapid recovery. Make sure they let you watch the races on the hospital television. Bring a notebook and you might even be able to make a few bets while you are there.
They seem to get really pissed when you use their monitoring equipment to hit the net so you'll need the notebook.

Here is the profile for non-maiden 6.5 furlong races at CT. I am showing 16 races although I have 32 races in the sheet. The averages reflect all 32 races.

Houndog,
Good spreadsheet. My spreadsheet has 89 races, soon I might have to divide them by class. They are quite similar, but I keep an average for the last 10 races, that help me identify changes in times and bl's.

I had never put much credibilty in profiling. This is strictly my opinion and it is not my intention to put down those that use them successfully.

Because this is a race of interest and Jeff is a good friend, I ran a profile for the exact type of race dating back 4+ years and as you will see there were only 16 race of this grade, type, distance and surface.
I still stand by my picks that were previously posted using "Energy".
Here is the profile and projected order of finish. pick "1" supposedly wins this type of race at a clip of better then 43%.

Pino, are you entering all your data manually? It is probably a good idea to do as you have done and keep an average for the last 10 races to keep up with what is happening now.

Your spreadsheet is far more sophisticated then mine. It is really a nice piece of work, and just about covers everything. Your skill level with spreadsheets is very apparent.

Houndog,
I do enter the data manually. My spreadsheet is not that much sophisticated, anyone with a basic Excel knoweledge can achieve better results, but thanks for the nice word. I like to keep an eye on the POR and POH, timewise and velocity (FPS), that give me a general idea how the winners perform in certain situations.

I talk to Pino on the phone last night around 7. He is dialed into Ct pretty good with all his record keeping.

He tells me at 6.5f RECENT trend is speed dying and closers having their time in the sun. look at the result chart

He tells me " Richie now I have to go make some Melanzane. Ciao!"

Funk,
great job on #7. Going back to the race, #7 was a definite keeper in the mix.
From the attached chart #7 seems to run good vs a POR stretch call of 112 and change. Knowing that for the last 10 races CT favors closer, #7 should have been scrutinized a bit closer. I missed as well. Poop.

This is one I blew
Excuses yes Tired Yes
anyway looking back I think its a lesson to learn
I blew it. why did n't I just use line 3 ? it was a mistake
I did my APV and CR and the 7 ranked not so well
however like Doc just wrote Its not just numbers
looking back I did the + 0 and 0-+ ratings
Here is what I came up with left to right
Left = bottom race Right is last race
0+, 0 0 0 0 + + + 0+,0
The thing that the apv CR did was make me use line 2
I see the 87 for line 3 should I go back ?yes did I no
this horse is in form a good closer and it built up to that 87
with 3 Plus races then dropped to an 82 but again showed no life closing in a 9.0 race to get an 85
If I use the third line the 7 is a sure bet and Binder Improver

Cellarfunk,What line did you use for the 7 horse if you dont mind me asking?I used the 3rd line back as Bill suggested and Im getting the 7 as the top rated 3rd fraction but that's about it.Jeff

I used line 1...

I am a little unconventional in my line selections, I always use best of last three period. I just seems to work for me and I'm not changing!<g>

Thanks for all the congrats. Lets just say that race and "The Tin Man" yesterday made my weekend.
