I have heard in another post that Trackmaster has changed the surface desigination from Equitrack race tracks from D to E causing problems loading the races. Is this correct?

Breathe in, breathe out...
TrackMaster PP data files have always internally designated PolyTrack surfaces as E (for Equitrack, an old type of synthetic surface) rather than D for Dirt. Speculator and Validator have code in them to display E surfaces as D Dirt. (RDSS displays the E designation as P.)
I checked the currently running PolyTracks I know of (HOL, WO) and they appear to continue to display their non-turf surfaces as D, just as they always have.
I received an email from an individual saying they had trouble with Speculator displaying a recent WO card as E rather than D and refusing to work until using F10 to change the surface to D. I could not duplicate that problem using the same card with Spec160, not can I duplicate the problem with Val4.
If there appears to be any problem which I can help with, I will certainly try to do so. Otherwise, I myself have not seen a problem with any Polytrack cards, and as far as I know, TrackMaster has changed nothing and no Val or Spec setting need to be changed.
If I hear of anything more on this, I'll definitely report it!
Hope that helps,
Ted

Sorry to everyone. I should have checked this out first for myself. I was just relaying what someone said on another BBS. I think Ted may have been dealing with the same person. Thanks Ted for clearing it up.

Agree 100%. Ted is completely unselfish with his time.

If you dont see or hear of a problem from the one of the top three guys and you shud all know who that is. Bill, Richie, and Ted then there is no problem sometimes some folks want to create s---. to try and confuse us Sartin guys.
For what reason I dont know except maybe a little bit of mental s--- in there brain.

If someone encounters a situation where, for a Polytrack track, the Card Summary screen (for software using TrackMaster files) shows E in the Surface column where it would normally show D, it would be helpful in debugging if (before attempting to repair it by using F10 to change the surface to D), do the following:
1. If you can take a screen shot, please do, and email to me.
2. Send me the following 4 files, (using WO0509 as an example): WO0509r.exe (the original file downloaded from TrackMaster), WO0509R.DBF, WO0509P.DBF, WO0509H.DBF (the 3 working files for that card, found on your Spec or Val or whatever folder). Place all 4 files in a ZIP file and send to ted@ArtofPace.com
3. Say which software you are using (Spec160, SpecPA, SpecWhatever, ValWhatever...)
4. Say which software you are using...
I will take a look at it and report back.
Ted
