"DOC" Sartin often said "PACE IS CLASS".Years ago I witnessed pure class
as Alysheba and Ferdinand moved in tandem into the far turn and
"BLEW" past Super diamond and other GRADE 1 HORSES 'COOKIN on
the lead.I can not recall such a "BLATANT DISPLAY" of pure class
as CURLIN AND STREET SENSE moved in tandem on the far turn,
STREET SENCE WAS OUT CLASSED and packed it in,as CURLIN
continued on to face HARD SPUN who was cruising on a easy
lone f. over a speed favoring track, looked HARD SPUN in the eye
and "CRUSHED" him!! THAT IS CLASS AS DEFINED IN A RACE HORSE!!
Such A DISPLAY OF RAW CLASS IS NOT OFTEN WITNESSED.
IN ONE WORD AWSOME!!

Jeff,

Curlin did the same thing to Laywer Ron in the Jockey Cup @ Belmont in his last prep for this race.

Street Sense was severely compromised by the conditions. The real class was letting him run in it and Borel and Nafzgar not whining about it... The best horse with the breeding to face yesterdays conditions won.

Come on, Carl's one trick Pony didn't find the Goldern Rail yesterday.. That's only way he can win against Top Talent...

He beat second tier 3 yrs old at Saratoga, Carl ducked the Top three yrs in the Haskell and chose in easier foes in Kentucky Cup [still loss to Hard Spun]@ Turfway and ducked the big boys in Jockey Gold Cup..

If jockeys in Derby didn't open the rail like the Red Sea, Hard Spun would have beaten him 3 times this year.

Lonestar.. You mistook my comments that I thought Street Sense would have won on a dry track. That I don't know but I know on the Slop, he had no chance whatsoever.
