I used to make a grid with nine boxes on it. The grid fit on one piece of paper. That way I could take it to New York City OTB on second avenue and only look at one piece of paper.
I had the five Superhorse categories abbreviated with single letters for the columns -- P,T,C,O,S.
One day one of the regular players there, a real heavy hitter and generally regarded as the best handicapper in the place, was having a horrible day.
I was winning that day.
He looked at me and said to our group, "Yeah, maybe that's what I should be doing...making little ****ing boxes."
We laughed our asses off.

Hello Jeff,
That's THE very first system that I bought! The one that got me interested in this atypical form of speculative investment. Al DeCuir (the author) even mentioned his friend Doc Sartin in one page regarding money management.
Ah yes, I can still remember the very time first time I went to Monmouth Park (back in late summer 1991) with a horse racing buddy of mine....placing $2.00 win bets based upon the selections by the Superhorse method, I picked 3 out of 6 winners. Mind you, I didn't know ANYTHING about class, speed figures (although they were included in the Racing Times paper that I bought), trainer and jockey win percentages, etc. I just mechanically handicapped the race as per instructions and wagered accordingly.
I still have my copy, and with a few tweaks, it amazingly picks winners--though usually low-priced ones.
Regards,
Jon :D

Yes, they made a computer program.
They had two paper and pencil methods -- a long version and the short version I described above which only used Pace, Time, Class, Odds and Score.
Their only value these days would be as a collector's item. Any of the Sartin programs will probably outperform Superhorse by a wide margin.
