The only reason I bought "Bet with the Best" book was because of Tom Brohamer's contributions.
To me, the best and only part of the book is his insights, because they are always interesting.
That's the only reason I am considering to buy the sequel I see advertised on the DRF website.
I believe they KNOW to try to catch some of the Sartin followers by including Tom Brohamer, in addition to his expertise.
Smart.

About Tom Brohamer, I whole heartedly agree. Besides being a really nice guy.
In the 90's I attended one of Doc's seminars in Beaumont and Tom handicapped the Santa Anita card and won ALL nine races with his top two picks, including the graded feature with a double digit longshot. Unfortunately, there was no internet. You would have had to drive to satellite center. But the way he layed out a race was so logical and precise. Would that we all could "understand" races the way he does. It would be worthwhile tapping into that data base if at all possible.

Doc says it best
In the most recent Lets Get Serious seminar tapes that are being posted
after Tom gives his fantastic presentation of a race, He ask for questions
Nobody asks a thing. Doc comes on and says something like
"Nobody has any questions because you gave every answer in your
prensentation"
He really was a good teacher
I enjoy listening to his work

What's Tom doing these days anyway, btw? As well as other of the ex-Sartin teaching members?? I know what Pizzolla's doing. I know what The Hat is doing. I see Bob Cochran posting here. I know Bob Purdy has Synergism VI. And, of course, not to leave out The Doc! Btw, how's his health? Anyone know? I (and I'm sure others) would like to have an update on this great man.

Jonathan......
I went to a bunch of seminars in the 80s and early 90s....the first one featured Howard along with charter members Jim Bradshaw, Tom Brohammer, Bob Purdy, Bob Cochran, Dick Schmidt, Bert Mayne (a minister), Mike Pizzolla, and Virginia Butler. What a line up. Marion Jones from San Diego, whom Bob Cochran stays in touch with, was not there. But I have heard his tapes many times. He is known to be one HELL of a handicapper.
One thing I recall from that weekend was that Purdy was just finishing up writing Synergism I. He told us that he sent a copy to Virginia Butler for testing. After a couple of 20 race cycles she was hitting 92 % winners in the top 2 FW !
Another guy who came along a little later was Glen Connely, from here in MD. I used to call him for coaching. I don't know if he's still kicking or not, but he could really tear it up at Laurel.
What a group! Anyway, its really excellent to have this site to keep things going.

Chuck

Ms. Butler was in a class by herself especially in the Pacific Nothwest.
