Don P......DEFINATELY trained by The Master with language like:
" "pretend" lead horses"
" actual positions "
" apparant weakness of the race "
This give's just an "extra" texture and flavor to visual comprehension and practice of the MatchUp.
We'll probably never know all the elements that makes The Hat
" THE HAT "..Master of The MatchUp.
But there is an apparant ingredient. Which is why Doc focused on Deceleration.
When Mr. Bradshaw spoke at seminar's, his language gave insight into what he "see's".
One example of this is the way he describe's a Late horse. He has the "nice" way, which is , " these horse's can win when all the other horse's use up all their energy they brought to the track that day".
But the down and dirty way he say's it is the key:
LATE HORSE: " these horse's win when ALL the other horses STOP and WAIT for HIM to pass them".
This correlates to DonP's "apparant weakness in the race " language.
One of the elements and POWER of The MatchUp and Mr. Jim "THE HAT" Bradshaw is the ABILITY TO SEE HORSES STOPPING.
All thru out the track.
He alway's mention's FAST horse's , and we can comprehend that premise.
But "seeing" horse's stop is an underestimated, visceral picture of a race....who's stopping.
Thank's to Mr. Bradshaw and Richie P, most of us has some decent skill at seeing and projecting obvious fast Early horse's from an ACCELERATION /Velocity point of view and the "stopping" point of view:
1) Fighters vs Easy Lead horses who are un-proven challengers
2) Early horse's who cannot get their comfort lead.
3) Early horse's who will run THE fastest 1st call , no matter what, but once
gotten the lead, QUITS=STOPPING.
4) Early horse's who MUST break 1st.
So once the one and true boss Early horse is identified, unless the other Early horse's show multiple style's AND the race run's Other Than Early for those style's, we can see, the other Early horse's are STOPPING.
And NOTHING can save them. Even if we are wrong, we would bet the same way.
This opinion came about trying to work ugly race's:
paceless races
3/4 of field have been laidoff, no competitive preference, no style preference,no 1st call preference,no surface preference, etc.,
We all try to project how fast, usually most race's, but when projecting how SLOW this race is where who will be STOPPING come's into play balance with who will keep running.
Imagine a freeway; car's going 85+, car's going 50, and varying speeds.
Nothing is more apparant and obvious when a car SLAMS on his brake...I mean you see smoke , tires burning, other car's trying to get out his way, besides what's happening and how fast or slow the other car's are going,
YOU SEE THE CAR STOPPING RIGHT AWAY, even if you are deaf and can't hear the tire's screeching, you can SEE it and almost FEEL it.
I think Mr. Bradshaw can see not only whose fast, but along the way see horse's STOPPING like this. He can see horse's SLAMMING,FULL SPEED, into a virtual WALL, whether it's one or two horse's per call or entire group's of horse's and tandems, once he see's that, these horse's are OUT.
If we can see horse's going FULL SPEED into a solid brick wall as THE HAT can see horse's doing this all thru out each point of the track, %median, jockey, trainer, 3rd fraction, etc., would not help him, we would simply throw him out.
If a porche slams into a wall, what does it matter how much the car is worth?
Or who the driver is.
My opinion is the 3 or 4 dimensional vision of Mr. Bradshaw seeing horses STOPPING = SLAMMING into a wall + who's fast is one of the ingredients that make's it so powerful.
Like when you you see a Nascar crash, it's a gut , whincing reaction. No PowerLine of this car is going to make him the winner. I think that's the reaction Mr. Bradshaw had at seminars when people tried to justify in keeping a horse in the race.
That's why I liked Don P's description so much:
..."at some point you have to see the weakness of the race, contender's will start to appear ....."
So beside's seeing whose fast and will have extra energy, Mr. Bradshaw can see in 3D/4D a horse virtually slamming flesh and bone into wall when in comparison to today's MatchUp.
If we can see that, despite his past performance, we would be throwing horse's and group of horse's out FAST, left and right.
Trying to Project how SLOW of a 1st call a race is going to run today lead me to this opinion.
LATE HORSES have their fair share cause everybody is STOPPING.
