I notice all the views on the site but besides Richie and Binder hardly anyone is willing to share ideas .It seems like people are afraid they will be giving away secrets if they do.We all pick different pacelines so it wont matter much anyway.I hope in the future more people will post rather than just look.Shoeless

hello
i just asked this same questions about sr on another thread.
doesn't TM subtrack the tv from the sr in the software?
and i guess in val it doesn't seem to.
TM: sr 70 tv -1
val: sr 71 tv -1
and i haven't figured out spec.

Andy Cylke who perhaps was the biggest bettor ( Bob Purdy?) the Sartin group ever had in the fold no longer uses the software. Hasn't for YEARS.
WHY?
This is someone who hammered turf races using sustained pace ( which by the way is NOT even a readout available in todays "advanced" programs) to the point where Andy Beyer wrote that he was the most unreal winner he had ever seen.
I know its beside your point, and I'm not disagreeing with you, but to set the record straight, The CPR (Composite Pace Rating) is the equivalent of Sustained Pace, starting with the Pace Launcher series. My source is the glossary in the Sartin seminar workbooks.

Okay, since no one is going to bite on my question on how they use the Trackmaster Speed Rating anyway, I'll come clean.
Trackmaster adjusts the speed rating by the listed variant. When you see a Trackmaster speed rating in the PDF past performances, the Past performance software, or even the Equibase programs and past performances, that number has already been adjusted by the Daily Track Variant. The Daily Variant is listed seperately for those who wish to do their own adjustments. Trackmaster Greg confirmed this to me on the phone last week.
In order to do your own adjustments, you have to extract the Daily Variant from the speed rating. That is what Validator is doing. They are showing the 'raw' speed rating and Daily Variant.
Speculator is doing something completely different and I have no idea what it is. In their supposed 'original pace line' they are showing something that seems to bear little resemblence to the original speed rating.

I don't know how the Spec adjusted speed ratings are set either, but the speed ratings listed in the 'original' pace lines are NOT the same numbers listed in the data file or the PDF files. Check it out.
