View Full Version : Made the finals at Htr contest

I have made the finals at the HTR contest.

What started out as a field of about 75 shooters from boards everywhere and included national contest winners has now whittled down to the surviving 14.

The Belmont Stakes will decide the champion who will get a paid entry into that huge Vegas tourney late summer.

So it's 13 Super sophisticated computer users and one "Matchup Guy" to settle things in 2 weeks.

I can hear Jim's feedback that he gave me months back - "Show them what you can do Rich. Play to WIN"

Ok "Teach" will do! :)

Congratulations, quite an accomplishment.

The "match-up" has many adherents, but as in everything else, few masters. Stay with that aggresive "show them what you can do attitude" and you'll do well.

Personally, I know when I play conservatively, and don't assume a "show them what..." I do poorly. Few remember those legendary infielders who sported a mid 200 batting average - peppered with singles and walks, but legends are made of the home run kings, they're not soon forgotten, and they usually made more money!

Though we play on a smaller field, our accomplishments are as real. Go get them and swing for the fences!

Regards,
Chris

Good luck Rich. If anyone can make the Match Up concepts dance it is you, so give them hell.

I am sure Jim would be very proud of you,

I finished 2nd losing the title on a tiebreaker man.

The winner is a tremendous capper who has won the last 2 Gold Coast tourneys in Vegas to the tune of over 100k

"I finished 2nd losing the title on a tiebreaker man."

Richie,

First of all, welcome back! It was just too quiet here in your absence! :)

Second, be proud of your accomplishment!! There are folks that NEVER make it that far. And remember: a) there will be other contests! And b) the son of The Hat has only just begun!!!

And most important, remember this: You are numero uno HERE and that's what really counts!

Again, welcome back!!!

Hey Jon
I'm the son of Frank P and the student of the Hat both racing and life wise. I am blessed to have 2 unbelievable mentors in my Dad and Jim.

I need this time for myself to prove something to ME regarding racing. I'll be back in the Hat Check after Labor Day.

Hope you are doing great and stay cool!

You are representing to the fullest, Richie.

That 2nd place is as good as 1st for someone who is doing pure "HAT" style MatchUp.

And , for someone who started learning it within the past 1-3 years.

You really just got out the "dojo" to fully implement, practice and recall ALL that you have been taught, all out, by THE MASTER.

What I mean by that is going Head-to-Head with other 'cappers....outright, FULL ON COMBAT , if you will.

In the handicapping world, that's almost as close to getting personal as you can get. Not just winning for profit, but trying to crush and dessimate the other guys, your opposition, your opponents.

That's like someone just getting out of bootcamp yesterday, with the fresh smell of paper and pencils from class still lingering fresh in the nostrils, and going dead center to the front line in live battle, bullets flying ,grenades exploding, blood being splashed, the overwhelming smell of dead corpses, life or death at any second, any moment.

To be the 2nd soldier ALIVE out of many battle hardened/experienced vets is as good as 1st for one just finished his 1-3 year Ph.D in Jim "THE HAT" Bradshaw style MatchUp not so long ago.

Especially one of the few, really hardly any, to accomplish that who is just recently added on a very, very, very short list.
