I didn't have too much to do yesterday. (Tuesday). After spending a few hours studying how to break into your router and get past your firewall I decided to take a break from work. I work in the computer field and have been dealing with security issues for both home users and small business. If you want to learn how to really protect something, you need to learn how to break in first. Then you know what defenses have to be set up.
So on my break I decided to go back over some of the first races I did with Speculator. Those first races were at Belmont and Philadelphia going back to October. I was never able to do very well at Philadelphia. After going over my races I now know why. I could have bettter selected my pacelines by throwing darts at a wall. It's amazing how easy it was to pick up blatant errors in paceline selection. After I corrected my errors my selections were much more accurate so I'm going to have to give Philadelphia another shot.
I was reading the Sartin section of Modern Pace Handicapping and Brohamer states the way to get good at picking pacelines is through a lot of practice. This sounds like it came directly out of Doc's mouth. Either way they are both right on the money (no pun intended) and this excercise was a great confidence builder for me. To actually be able to see the progress I have been able to make in three months. Can't wait to see what the next three months bring.
Bill, the purpose of this posting is I'm going back to Philadlphia. Maybe even this weekend. Only this time with a lot more confidence and hopefully some better skill.
