A "Matcher" contacted me privately and asked my help with the "Balancing the 3rd Fraction" chapter in Jim's last book. He is looking for a better understanding of it.

I told him that I was not taught that way by Jim and unfortunately couldn't help him as I really had no clue.

This has been bothering me for days so I put out a call here to folks:
If YOU have an understanding of what Hat was getting across here PLEASE consider taking the time to give feedback/comments to this most sincere "Matcher".

Thank you

In Issue 12 of the Followup - Bradshaw talks about this. Don't know if this is what you want but check it out.

Hello Richie

and thxs jw for that info...

although it was mentioned in the Hat-Check Forum ," a unit of energy exerted at the beginning causes 2 units lost at the end" , it was never put to practical use.
From what I see , if you have multiple horses (or matching earlies) fighting for the lead The Hat projected a faster pace and adjusted the pacelines of those early horses accordingly . With that now adjusted line , maybe that closer that you thought didn't have a chance to catch him...could now.

If there is any matchers out there that use fractional times or adjusting pacelines or even want to get this going again...PLEASE DO....

Dont let The Match-Up fade away...

Hi Mike

First time reply to your post I would agree to this is a long way as being what we we all are looking is the answer to the horses ability to conserve his energy and expel his energy when it is ready to and explode and pass the leader.

I had a same question about this as well a while back and never posted but re reading this concept has cleared my thoughts as well on this as I believe this is stated in the yellow manual.

Good follow up response
