I know a lot of people will read the later FU'S as it pertains more to the
programs used now.But I would recommend for beginners especially to start
with FU 1 and these excellent articles by Dick Schmidt. There is stuff on picking pacelines, terminology and the match up.Good stuff.

Just a thought I have a feeling that many people skim or read the follow ups very quickly
one right after another or jump around.

I think it might be a good idea to read them but also take a week or more to absorb
an issue and do some serious study of the content in each one. Often in the early issues there were sample races and assignments Perhaps do the work before just reading them like a novel as a whole

Rememebr these follow ups came out 6 times a year
I have been reading them with that in mind and rereading the same one a few times before moving on

Excellent point Bill on stepping back and letting the follow ups sink in a little and re read this stuff a few times. It's just like a movie seeing it over a few times has worked for myself OH really is that what happened.

I would recommend reading every one of the follow up issues. While the later issues are more relevant to today's software all of the issues contain nuggets of information relevant to handicapping the races. The information is like gold, past follow ups are sold on ebay, here we get to read them for free. If nothing else the Doc's enthusiasm is enough to keep me going forward.

Hi Bill,

I will mark off certain articles in the FU'S and reread those again.
