Folks,

I was going in for shoulder surgery in 11 days, but it has been moved up to this Friday (Nov 9). Depending on how it goes, I will be out of action for 1 or 2 weeks (hopefully not more ...)

This changes my schedule for the RDSS Online clinics (http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8753) which I was going to start this week. I will let folks know when I am able to reschedule the start of that series, presumably later on in November.

I sent out RDSS Subscription renewal notices for November 15. If you were going to renew, doing it this week before Friday would be helpful. I will still send out November 30 notices in a few weeks.

I will stay in touch with the website and my emails as much as I can until I know what I will be able to do, and let folks know when I am back to a full schedule.

Meanwhile, this week I am fine tuning my voice dictation software!. Any eccentricities in my written words for the next little while are entirely the fault/credit of Dragon Dictate  ;)

Wish me luck!

Ted

Bill, just chopping wood, shoveling snow, wrestling bears and writing code - the usual Canadian stuff ... ;) I just replaced a major part on my truck after 280,000 km - now it's good for the same again. I figure if a lame shoulder is all I need to worry about after 58 years, a tune up could make me good too for another couple dozen software updates :)

Good luck with your surgery Ted, are you having it done up there or in the city? Anyway, i hope it goes well and take care of yourself.

Gil,

Thanks! Markdale, if you can believe that (Grey County - deep small-town farm country of my ancestors)! But that's where a good osteo-surgeon practices. Hard to say how long recovery will take, but they say the hardest thing will be to resist trying to do stuff for the first week or so. I'm already practicing certain activities using my left hand ...

Ted, be thinking about you on Friday. Hope all goes well. One piece of advice, be a fanatic about doing your PT exercises. It really does help in the end.

Ted,

All the best, and get well soon. Being Canadian, I think you left off the drinking a nice cold beer part. Many years of twisting off beer caps, has damaged your wing?

Good to see you made it through the surgery and are back posting, rest up and don't over do it! It's the only time you have an excuse to be a couch potato, don't waste the opportunity!

Get well my friend.

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes, public and private! The good news is my shoulder is healing steadily and will not take me out for the dire 4 weeks predicted by some. Also, I have had lots of time for reading and watching all the accumulated videos (handicapping and otherwise) I have stored up.

The bad news is I've got another week of part-time work before I can spend the kind of time at my keyboard (and mouse) which I normally do. It's harder than I thought to convince myself that 'doing nothing' is actually working hard (healing). The mind plays strange tricks ...

I have fixed the RDSS tote problem (BRIS changes) and a few other bugs. I need to stabilize the software version I am working on before I can issue an update, so perhaps another 2 weeks or so.

All the very best wishes to my American friends for Thanksgiving this week! I have discovered that despite whatever chaos and turmoil may visit each of our families and homes from time to time, there is always something to be grateful for: focus on that shows the way forward.

Again, thank you all!

yours,

Ted

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I have yet to work a single race since the day Saratoga closed. I was considering toe surgery to get me out of work! (I actually quit the day before the Thanksgiving holiday, but they talked me into a couple more weeks).

Hello Folks,

Well, my previous shoulder surgery fixed something, but as it turns out, not nearly well enough. I go under the knife again Friday (June 28) and so will be in a sling for at least a week and under doctor's (and Alison's and Mum's) orders to cool it for up to a few weeks.

I'll be checking in here from time to time and checking my email, but trying not to do much typing at all for a little while. In emergencies, I'm always available by phone.

I put the RDSS Evaluation program (http://www.rdss2.com/how-to-obtain) on hold until July 15. For those of you who were waiting to try it out, may I suggest either requesting it today or else send me a note and I'll get back to you as soon as I can resume support for the evaluation process.

For those of you whose RDSS Subscriptions renew or whose Evaluations expire by June 30 - for uninterrupted use, now would be a good time to take care of that. Otherwise, I'll do what I can as soon as I can in July, but it may not be lightning prompt ...

I've extended all other Evaluations to July 15 and will respond to those, and to July 15 Subscription renewals in time for uninterrupted use, no worries!

Thanks for understanding - best wishes to all in the upcoming Canada Day and US 4th of July Holiday celebrations!

In case those Dr's are new, here's a cheat sheet for them to review:

With the shoulder bone connected
to the back bone,
and the back bone connected
to the neck bone,
and the neck bone connected
to the head bone.

I'm sure they'll get it right this time.

All the Squatheads, John, Janet and Lynn wishing you a speedy recovery

With events like this, it's hard to remember all contingencies; trust you asked for the preferred, or valued customer discount? One more visit and you may qualfy for both. Now that's something to look forward to.

Until then,

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes, public and private! My (left-handed ) typing is not so good, so I'll be brief ...

Surgeon opened up shoulder (again), less cutting and scraping than before but it still hurts! Had some better drugs this time ;) but weaning off that cause it makes me stupid. By next week I should be a bit more regular at email and messages here, though I gave my self 2 weeks downtime - let's see.

Happy to talk by phone though, so if anyone needs anything, just drop me a note and we can connect by phone.

That's all for now. Happy Canada Day today to all my countrymen and women - and happy 4th of July coming up to all my southern neighbours!

Take care,

Ted

Hello Folks,

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes over the past 2 weeks! I am now back at work more or less full time now, having tried to lay low (and off the computer keyboard) and rest my shoulder and arm. Now begins another round of massage and physio-therapy. Let's see how it goes.

I am now working though any backlogs of queries or trouble reports, and sending out the RDSS Evaluation info to those who enquired.

If I haven't responded to your query (either emailed or public or private messaged here) by tomorrow, please do remind me and I will get to it ASAP.

Thanks again - what a great extended 'family' of concerned and caring individuals!

best,

Ted
