A few of you know, but most don't, that tomorrow I will embark on my trip of a lifetime. I had no intentions of going on safari in Africa, but a few months ago the opportunity to go literally dropped in my lap. Given my health issues a year ago, I didn't think twice...just said I'm going. So, for the next two weeks I will be traveling through Kenya and Tanzania and hope to come back with some of the greatest memories and pictures ever. My daughter-in-law, Alison, was there quite a few years ago and tells me no matter what you envision, there is nothing to prepare you for the actuality. I'll try to post some pictures.

Hope your team showing in the contest does not go up while you are gone, Barb. But then if it does, I guess you would have a great reason for extending your stay... just a .... little..... bit.....longer.
As the French model says, "Ahh, Bon Voyage..."

No betting on the ostriches. Stick to the non-maiden zebras.

I don't know Dorianmode, those ostriches looked pretty fast. If I was betting I think it would be on the female.
I reduced these pics down very small, but it looks like it better be even more.
Hi everyone, I'm back and it surely was my trip of a lifetime. I'll post more pics over the next few days (smaller). but I'm still trying to rest up and start firing on all cylinders again, at least before contest time this weekend. Although Pat and Rich are doing quite well without me.
My heartfelt thanks also to Rmathe who has been mentoring Pat and me and stepped up to help Pat when Richie and I were away.

Hope you saw them today at Remington Park. The ostriches seemed to know what to do. The zebras, not so much.

I didn't see those, but last year one of our local standard bred tracks had a camel and ostrich race. One of the ostriches managed to get across the finish line. The others all went in different directions despite the frantic urgings of their jocks. The camels all took off in the wrong direction. It was a hoot.
i didn't see Remington, but I'll go back and look for it. I hope they still have it.
