Here is a race were understanding the conditions would have
helped get a nice price, Its important to understand the conditions in all races, Sometimes horses look much better the the program readouts will show.

Here is the race. I will just post the entries, conditions and
my pacelines. I won't comment on the winner,

I did not get the winner myself but I learned a good lesson.

Bill has posted up a very interesting race, from a “conditions” point of view. Naturally it also becomes interesting from a handicapping point of view as well, but first, the conditions. If you haven’t read the conditions that Bill posted, take a minute now to go and read them.

The first part of the condition is “NW of $17,500 THREE TIMES”…other than….

The second part, the “other than” part, clarifies the type of races that do not count. Whatever the horse has done, as far as earning are concerned, in maiden races, claiming races, starter allowance races, starter handicap races or closed races since October 14,2012, DOES NOT MATTER!!

So what caliber of horse would you expect to find in these types of races? You can expect to find very good quality horses. These horses may be on the way UP the ladder or on the way DOWN the ladder, depending on their current condition.

Just to give you an idea of what type of horses can be found in these races, look at this race from Santa Anita. It is a GRADE III race. Note the distribution of the purse. A horse finishing third in this race would not have won $17,500, therefore, a horse could have run 3rd three times in this GRADE III race and still be eligible for the race Bill posted.

There was another race at PARX on 4.16.13 with the same condition as the race shown here at PARX on 4.14.13. It was the 8th race on the card. This race demonstrates more clearly the caliber of horse that can be found in these races. In fact, RULER ON ICE (one of the entrants) is a previous BELMONT STAKES WINNER. Here are the horses for that race.

If you look at the PP's for each horse you will see many Graded races.

So looking at two fields running under the same condition, you can see how one field appears much stronger than the other, and it is! Either way, you are dealing with upper echelon horses.
The thing to be careful of is this. "NW3X" IS NOT "NW$3X".
A horse that has been running in NW$3X races and is running in NW3X today is dropping down considerably. So when reading the PP's, make sure you look for that "$" sign. It's important.
