I forgot does the methodology still want us to bet two horses or can we get by with just betting one, any info would be great.
FWIW: What I've absorbed from the FollowUps seems to prefer the 2 horse method for consistent profitability. The to-date stats from my software evaluation period conflict with that view, although I am not using my own two top contenders. For a 2 horse method I used my top and the RDSS highlighted (under the program numbers) top rated contender. So far using my own selections for a 1 horse to win bet outperform using the 2 horse method, and by a considerable margin based on ROI figures. Twice in 16 cards the RDSS suggested selection has bettered my own over the course of a full card.
Granted my statement is based on a relatively small sample size, but it's MY trend. I would be very interested to hear how that compares to the results others are having.
The Doc taught to bet your top 2 choices and not betting the program top 2 blindly. No program can know what is happening on the track on a given day.You need to be able to adjust to the reality of the day in front of you.. I've been doing what Doc preached for over 20 yrs with good success.
Lt1, thanks for the post.
I don't at all intend to pry, but could you describe what you call "good success"?
Lt1, forgive me for disagreeing that you have had "good success".
I'd say you have had GREAT success! :)

LT posts his picks daily on another site. Ask him and I'm sure he will direct you to them. (If he's to shy, pm me I'll direct you) You'll see what kind of success he has. He's tough me and a few others around here. He's also giving out several P6's this year.
"Good success" becomes GREAT success when you have been publicly recognized for a stretch of seriously superior handicapping. Twice, I think.
I decided it's probly a good plan to try to do what he says he does.
I've been re-studying again tonight! :)
Hey guys there are a lot of excellent cappers in this group including several who take the time and effort to post teaching threads. I would suggest that you read them as well as the followups. As Doc once told me in a bar in Baltimore all the teachers he used were good but we normally find one who we identify with more than the others for numerous reasons. So like I said take advantage of all that is offered here.
Paying close attention to Bill, FTL, Jim, et al goes without saying. But in this race of 2 horse to win bets you are the last line, so you get some love! :)
Here's what I did: I took your advice while capping another card, and changed from my top and the rdss top as the bets to MY 2 top Win choices.
Here's what happened:
Strike rate nearly doubled. 7w/10 races.
My top choice for 1 horse W bets only hit 4 times.
Here's the rub.
With 2 horse win betting I won 30% more dollars, but at double the risk, so my ROI equaled +58%.
The 1 horse to win bets won only about 60% as many dollars, but produced 83% ROI due to only half the risk.
So far I'm not sure I feel it's worth doubling the risk for 1/3 more dollars won, just like I don't bet 8/5 horses.
Where I made good on dollars was on 2 exacta and 1 trifecta wins. That earned me right at 150% ROI playing 10 races. A $192 trifecta and $51.90 exacta in the same race will do that! Wish I could say I can do that every time. 55% Solutions will help me with that.
Betting 1 or 2 horses per race is just a matter of which one you are comfortable and successful with. I learned 2 horse betting when I started with Doc and have found it works for me. If 1 horse bets are working for you stay with it. Continued good skill.
Got to keep increasing the sample size, keep listening and studying, and getting better, before I can say anything is best or not.
On the card I did today (AQU 2/16) 2 horse W kicked the tail off 1 horse to win, by a margin of +110 to -45.
