View Full Version : New Race Track Codes

Here are 2 new Track Codes for new racetracks or new meets at existing Tracks:

1. BTP - Belterra Park, a new track constructed on the site of the former River Downs in Cincinnati, Ohio. It opened for racing on May 8 ( am a little late in getting this info out to folks ...).

2. OTP - Oak Tree Meet at Pleasanton. The Oak Tree Racing Association will be conducting a Summer meet beginning June 19 at the Alameda County Fair racetrack in Pleasanton, California.

In order to handicap races run at these new tracks, you will need to download the following file to your RDSS2 folder (right-click, Save Link As, or Save As ...):37560
Then load RDSS2. You will see 3 messages: informing you that BTP and OTP have been added as track codes, also that the file you just downloaded has been renamed (so it doesn't run again). Note: if you don't see these 3 messages, it's proof that you did not place the above file in your RDSS2 folder (please try again).37561
When you see BTP in your All Tracks list in the Data Centre, right-click it to edit the name (e.g. Belterra Park). Near June 19, when you see OTP in the All Tracks list, right-click to edit the name (e.g. Oak Tree Pleasanton).

The new codes will be already added to the database of the upcoming RDSS release.

Note: But wait, there's more!:( There will be yet another new track code for the upcoming Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos this summer. Equibase/TrackMaster promises to get us this new code as soon as it is official (gee thanks ...)

Let me be first:p

Everything has gone right on the install. I can see the file in my RDSS2 folder,
but no New tracks. All 3 messages came up and I followed intructions as given,
just no result for Moi.

Absolutely amazing. All afternoon no BTP. Tonight like Magic it appears.
I'm guessing it didn't show up due to pp's not yet available at Trackmaster.

I did the edit and when restarting next session BTP remains but Belterra Park
disappears. Did this a few times and the edit will not hold. BTC sticks which is
all we really need. I put the check mark in to take a peek at that track.

Looking forward to the upcoming RDSS release.

Belterra Park showed up in my Data Centre without downloading the file :). Not complaining just thought I would mention it.

George,

It would show up if you had it selected and queried TrackMaster to find out which cards were available for the Dates and Tracks you wanted. That doesn't necessarily mean you downloaded it, only that it is available.

If you actually Downloaded it (by clicking on Perform Selected Tasks, with the Download Task checked), then Converted it, it would show up in your Race Cards by Date Sidebar listing for the appropriate timeframe. If it doesn't show up there, you didn't download it.

According to Ron Tiller, Los Alamitos (Thoroughbred Only) will be LRC, while Quarter Horses and the low-level $3000 claimers will remain LA, Hazel Park will be HP and Northville Downs will be NVD. Mahoning Valley will be MVR.

Ted Craven

Thank you Jeebs.

Los Alamitos has added a new mile track to its site for Thoroughbred racing. Races on this new oval will carry the track code LRC. Racing runs July 3 - 13, and then again December 4 - 21. All future thoroughbred racing will be on this mile track, using the new track code.

Quarter horse racing (and perhaps some shorter thoroughbred races?) will continue on the existing 5/8th mile track. The new Thoroughbred meet will take place during the daytime, and quarter horse racing will continue at nighttime under the existing LA track code.

As per the instructions in Post #1 above (http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=96968&postcount=1), download the following file to your RDSS2 folder (e.g. c:\rdss2):

37872 (use this one for LRC only)

If RDSS is open, close it. Then restart it. You will see messages similar to those shown in Post #1 above (http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=96968&postcount=1), for LRC race track. Then, when LRC data files are available (i.e. for the July 3 opener), that data will be available to download.

After re-reading Post #1, when you get to the Save As screen, you are being asked to navigate to the RDSS2 folder on Drive C.

Look for Drive C in the locations at the left side of the screen, or Computer, then Drive C, or This PC then Drive C (depending on which Windows version you use). Anyway, when you get to Drive C, look for the RDSS2 folder and click on that. You're there!

Save the file there.

Hi Ted,

RDSS only shows BTP not OTP or LRC, the LRC link has the same name as BTP.

Ted Craven
06-22-2014, 09:54 AM
Since LRC does not start until July 3, no cards would be available yet. Please try closer to opening day.

If you can see BTP (Belterra Park), you should see OTP (Oak Tree at Pleasanton) since they were included in the same update file I posted in Post #1 above.

To find OTP, click Display Available Cards, then check ALL tracks in the all tracks list (use the checkbox in the header). You should then see OTP. Right-click to edit the name then deselect the cards you don't want (or deselect ALL then reselect those few card you want).

The track code update file I posted for LRC has the same name but different contents. RDSS expects a file of that name, and processes the contents if it finds it.

Let me know if you need further help.

Like all SoCal tracks, DMR cards will likely be available 24 hours in advance (too late, IMO) but we've been over this endlessly. SA and DMR send their last Workout info to Equibase typically later than other tracks, and for whatever reason, Equibase (and thus TrackMaster) publish them later than other tracks.

NYRA, and thus Saratoga, is a bit better, say 48 hours. We should see BOTH DMR and SAR opening day cards tomorrow.

Should be available by noon tomorrow.

Agreed ted! Be nice if equibase/trackmaster could make the SoCal tracks downloads available 48 hours in advance.

If the message says it's been added, it's there! Try selecting ALL Tracks in the Data Centre (check the box in the header section of the All Tracks list to select ALL tracks and reveal LRC). Then try deselecting ALL tracks and then just select LRC. Then set a timeframe which has some LRC cards and click the Display Available Cards button.

Hi Ted,

Yes indeed. It should simply show up in your All Tracks list, then you can select it and choose whatever date you like. I have advised several folks the same. It does not need a Track Code update like the above recent new track codes.

If GPW does not show in your All Tracks List, simply uncheck the box in the All Tracks header (the green area) which de-selects All tracks, then re-check it which selects All tracks. Then click Display Available cards.

Then remove any tracks you do not want (e.g. by again de-selecting All Tracks then selecting the one(s) you want, e.g. GPW).

Ted Craven

OK, here is an update file to add GPW - Gulfstream Park West (former Calder - CRC) to the Track List if it is not already there:

38312

As with the earlier new Track Codes in this Thread, right-click on the link above and choose 'Save As' then tell Windows to place the file on your RDSS2 folder. Then Run RDSS2. Message boxes will appear informing you that GPW is added to your Track List. If you don't get those messages, you won't see GPW, and it means the file did NOT get Saved to the RDSS2 folder (so please try again and find out how to specify where to Save the file, for your particular browser).

I don't know why this works on some people's computers and not on others - after testing it on several of mine and the first 3 other users I encountered, I thought nothing was needed for GPW to appear. Very sorry that I was not quite correct about that!

Mahoning Valley Racetrack is the replacement for the old Beulah Park Racetrack. The Ohio racing Commission and Legislature chose a small town 40 miles from Cleveland's Thistledown, and near Youngstown and the Pennsylvania border, and will compete with Mountaineer Racetrack all within a 60 mile radius. Mahoning Valley Racetrack will primarily operate in the afternoons during the fall and early spring like Beulah Park, but will experience numerous weather issues as it is near an area called the snowbelt. The jockeys and trainers will commute daily between the tracks for day and evening races. For those who enjoy the quality of Mountaineer, be prepared for smaller fields and handles as the thoroughbred supply is still very limited in this area.

Mahoning Valley opens today. Its track code is MVR, and for many people (for some reason) it just shows up in the ALL Tracks listing of the RDSS Data Centre when you click on Display Available Cards (so just scroll to MVR in the All Tracks list and check it, also right-click to edit the name).

If the MVR code does not show up automatically for you, please download the following Track Code Update file to your RDSS2 folder (right-click the link below, then Save As ... to your RDSS2 folder, usually on your C Drive). Then close RDSS if open, then restart. You'll get the usual 2 message boxes shown at the top of this Thread, then MVR should show up in your ALL Tracks list after you do a Display Available Cards.

Track Code Update file for MVR --> 38453 <-- (Right-click this link, then choose Save Link As or Save As - to your RDSS2 folder).

Yes - MVR. Please see the previous 2 posts. The file to download to update this new track in RDSS, and the instructions, are in Post #29 (http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=98843&postcount=29).

I've been playing MVR every Mon and Tues and some Sat. It was a gold mine at the beginning as the locals were over betting numerous false favs and win prices and exactas were great. However the past weeks field sizes have gone down to about 6 per race and the public has gotten better. As a result prices have fallen greatly. The track is now warning trainers if they don't run their horses they will lose stall spaces. RDSS did very well in getting the winners and exs.

Hello, It's been a while since I've been on here. After today's "recreation", I should probably take another sabbatical. I've been playing races in Japan and Australia. I decided to play the Breeder's Cup today and all of my RDSS training went out the window. What's the rule, if you have more the 4 contenders, pass the race? I should've passed all the races at Del Mar. It was as if the races had more than 1 FTS. I don't play those races, but I had to play Del Mar. I'm posting here to ask where do I find the names for some of the other track codes in RDSS i.e. BCC, BCD, BCT, EQA, ATO, BCF and quite a few more? Hope everyone is well!

Ted Craven

Hi Kisha, Breeders' Cup races are becoming more and more international, thus European and now Japanese horses are competing - and winning. Since RDSS depends mostly on running lines with timed segments, beaten lengths and running position, along with inter-track and daily-track variants.

Thus, many races which have strong foreign runners (evidenced by Morning Line Odds or Live Odds, and general chatter) become unplayable except by using certain angles such as the TrackMaster SR compared to the TrackMaster RC (Race Class) which puts international horses on a comparable footing with North American horses.

Myself, I passed most races on Saturday (and lost my bet on the Classic) though I know some worked them. Most of them with international runners were too risky for me. I would not obsess too much about losing on those kind of races (and would not recommend playing those races with only RDSS tools). There are many, many more suitable races for using RDSS/Sartin Methodology at many other North American tracks.

You have to use the appropriate tools for the racing venues you focus on. RDSS also is of no use for harness racing, or for most international throughbred racing. I work Hong Kong regularly but use other analysis tools. I wish I could adapt RDSS for that racing: maybe one day, though not soon.

You can find oddball, small track codes at Equibase, here: https://www.equibase.com/products/racedates.cfm (ATO = Atokad, BKF = Black Foot ).

There are also special codes for collections of races which either cross different tracks or different days, like BCC, BCD and BCT which provide PPs for BC Special Doubles of a certain race on Friday 11/5 combined with a race on Saturday 11/6. There's no reason to buy those (in future) - just buy the full card on Day 1 and the full card of Day 2 of the BC Races. There are other specialty codes like EQA, EQB ... EQx which provide PPs for specialty bets on races at different tracks - e.g. Friday 11/5's Stronach Pick 5 covering 5 races at different Stronach/Monarch owned tracks across the country.

Good luck with your International racing! I wish I knew how to analyse Japanese races, and had access to pools other than the very shallow non-comingled ones provided by North American ADWs. I do like Hong Kong racing.

Ted
