Eddybugsy and Gandalf - if you have any intelligence on how you're getting the TS Ratings again for today's races, please do share.

Thanks!

The web host for RDSS activities (ARTOFPACE.COM) underwent an unannounced migration over night last night. This knocked out my email and file access to RDSS updates and INFO about updates (PACEANDCAP.COM website is on a different server).

I'm pretty sure RDSS' problem with fetching TS Ratings today is a knock-on effect of not being able to access the main RDSS server. It is NOT a problem with actually getting the data - just displaying it.

I am working on it now, with advice from tech support people. Back in action as soon as I can!

Sorry about this (again, unannounced) file-site hosting issue :(

Stay tuned here.

A TEMPORARY solution is in the Docs thread: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=13

This will get you back into business immediately.

Another update to RDSS is coming soon.

This had nothing to do with any recent software update. It was only to do with an unannounced RDSS server migration by the host which screwed with a few things. :(

I updated the software to V2.2.2024.66.05 (June 14, 2024). You can find it in the usual download page (http://www.rdss2.com/download-software).

You need to download this from the Download page and NOT from within RDSS (which will only get you Version 66.04 - which will retain the same problem).

This fixes the bug where RDSS could not display TS Ratings IF there was any problem with the RDSS Server (a rare, but unfortunately CURRENT problem!)

All I did was clear the cache and then hit the reload the ts ratings button. The pl and bpp ratings came right up. Btw I was getting the figures the last few also.

I did update to V2.2.2024.66.05a (June 14, 2024)

If I try to run RDSS without internet it does give me the screen asking if I want to continue. However, either the screen disappears and RDSS doesn't run or if I click Yes it still doesn't run RDSS

Ted Craven 06-16-2024 05:21 PM

That was not my experience when I tested it. However, I will test it further on different computers to see what might be the problem.

I have the same issue ...... yesterday when I posted about it, I would get the no internet pop-up, want to continue? But it would disappear after 2-3 seconds and close RDSS down ... never had enough time to click the button ..... now today, I get the pop-up and nothing happens when i click the continue button ... BUT, within a couple seconds I get the Windows pop-up saying there is an issue with RDSS and closes it down .... hope this helps.

Ted Craven 07-16-2024 03:20 PM

When running the latest version of RDSS (2.2.2024.66.xx) on a Mac running Windows 11 within Parallels virtual environment - one user reports that RDSS fails to start, throwing off numerous error messages. Basically, it cannot load up various basic aspects of operating within a Windows environment. The previous version V2.2.2023.65 continues to work just fine.

If anyone else is running RDSS in a similar environment (the newer versions only) - would you kindly report your experience: either 'works fine' or 'nope, also doesn't work'.

This kind of issue is hard for me to debug because I don't have a similar environment to debug this in. I can't fix something I can't observe failing. Although I don't promise to support RDSS in this non-standard Windows/PC environment - I will still do my best.

Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately I seem to be encountering the TS ratings bug again. No PL or BPP

Edit: I'm reading there's some pettiness going on between NYRA and TwinSpires, perhaps this isn't a bug and we just can't get these ratings for Saratoga?

Ted Craven 07-31-2024 08:49 PM

Glass - you got it! No TwinSpires Ratings for Saratoga right now because TwinSpires isn't carrying Saratoga at the moment :(.

Other tracks appear to work normally.

The phase 'you had ONE job ...' seems like it applies here ...

My Races Panel

Not sure this is a bug but asking this question here. In the My Races panel. Is the ability to create custom filters available? I can see the preset sorts and filtered races but was wondering how to create my own set of races from downloaded tracks.

Race 4 at Del Mar won't assemble?

Ted Craven 08-16-2024 02:50 PM

Terry - agreed! I can duplicate that. I will investigate.

If you are Assembling ALL races on the Card Summary Screen, in this card, you may find that Assembly stops with Race 4 and the Assemble All Races button appears non-responsive (does not respond to mouse-click to resume assembling the rest of the races).

In this case, please click on any other top Tab (e.g. Registration) then switch back to the Race Cards - Card Summary Tab. You will then find that the Assemble All Races button is again responsive and you can click on it to resume assembly of the remaining races (e.g. Races 5 - final).

Please try this to get everything assembled, skipping Race 4 (until I investigate).

FWIW, this behaviour has been observed with some - not all - Saratoga race cards as well (curiously, also Maiden races). Now that I have a case to duplicate, I will resolve this for a future update. Use the foregoing steps as a workaround to keep on going in such cases.

Ted

TerryO 08-16-2024 03:02 PM

Ted, thanks for your help. I got the remainder of the races assembled.

Ted Craven 08-16-2024 09:25 PM

DMR Race 4 Aug 16, 2024 - failed to assemble because some Program #s are missing in the sequence.

Attachment 53463

Program #6 and #13 are missing in the sequence. RDSS expects the 6th horse to be Program # 6 but it is #7, likewise the 13th horse (which doesn't exist). This confounds RDSS during the automated paceline selection process.

Del Mar and Santa Anita have been known to skip #s like this, when the horses have been Early-scratched. EVERY OTHER track simply includes those Early scratches and shows them as scratched.

I will add this to my fix list.

That said - if you manually select pacelines for the horses (Paceline Selection Strategy = 00 Manual (You select!) - you get a nice outcome!

Attachment 53464

(Results and Prices returning in a Fall Update - with the Bundle Data plan).

Ted Craven 08-18-2024 04:02 PM

Further to the foregoing, when race card assembly stalls after an offending race like the above and the Card Summary screen appears non-responsive (including Assemble All Races button) - simply click on any top level Tab (e.g. Registration), then click back to the Race Cards Tab. You will then be able to continue assembling the rest of the races using Assemble All button.

I have enough examples now of this misbehaviour that I can resolve it when it happens.

Problem with old cards

Recently tried to rework some old cards. Once pulled up, RDSS would crash.
These were primarily CD, though I did find a TD and an ID. The cards are on either side of the PL/PP issue.
CD 9/16, 9/20, 9/27 and 9/30 of 23 for example. Then 6/1/24 til 6/19/24.
Is there a fix for this?

Thanks.

Tom, I also noted several crashes when simply loading old races.

The fix is to re-assemble those races (on Card Summary screen, right-click to re-assemble, or click the Clear Cache button then assemble a race). There were some changes to the file formats of the Cache storage files in subsequent versions. Re-assembling the race disregards what might have been saved previously. If you saved TS Ratings for those older races, they should re-appear, per this CD example.

From your description, I'm having trouble completely understanding your problem.

I suggest you click the Clear Cache button on the Card Summary screen and start again. Pick one race where you had problems before (e.g. CR and CR+ did not compute?). Does this solve the problem?

It sounds like some of your races were not completely assembled.

I checked every race at CD today (using the current version of RDSS) with no problems in displaying any readouts or selecting pacelines.

Ted
