My main purpose for mentioning the sub-notebook is two reasons.
Portability (under 2lbs)
Battery Life (close to 6 hrs) Drives are solid state.

Which model eeepc did you purchase?
Thanks

Sorry for the long long delay in responding. My unit is an EEEPC901. Mine came with a 4Gb C drive and an 8BG D Drive with an extra sd slot. I replaced the 8GB with a 32Gb SDD drive and placed an 8GB SD card in the extra slot.

Another report from the netbook trenches:

Hello from sunny Las Vegas 56 degrees today. Have been using RDSS and the netbook everyday in the racebook. Both are terrific. Love the colors. Have been playing the horses the traditional way since the 80's and have never been this successful. Trying to stop making bonehead mistakes. The computer is a Hewlett Packard 311-1000NR 11.6" HD screen, resolution 1366 x 768, XP operating system. They start at $399 on the HP website but purchased this one at Office Depot for $369 ... Much happier with the screen size, and the HD screen really makes a difference. Happy Holidays, Doug

Just wanted to thank everyone for there input. I ended up picking up the new asus 1201HAB. Its sold at best buy for $329. Some highlights are about 6-7 hours of battery life (perfect for belmont's lack of outlets), 1366 x 768 screen res on a 12" screen ( perfect for my average vision), and a ultra portable design. The only downside is it has a slowish z520 processor but its perfect as a trackside companion. You still can't quite get the 3 panel RDSS screen in full but everything else is perfectly sized. Any questions send me a PM.
