8/22/12 Re my variable pace line selection
Bill: First, I select contenders in the following order of preference
1. Eliminate horses that have poor APV and Class ratings. 2. Eliminate slow horses in accordance with Dave Schwartz's Reg speed. (provided they are contenders from step 1) THEN: 3. In sprints I like to use "best of the last 3 perceptors lines" if there is not much early speed in the race and Randy Giles" doodles" (which Ted has kindly incorporated in RDSS2) I also use best VDC to confirm the perceptor line. 4. In Routes I use ENERGY RATINGS to further eliminate horses provided they are not listed as contenders in New Pace (ie. Early or Late). Usually look for 3 or 4 point gaps in the energy ratings. Same for turf races except I rely on DCL and Late speed ratings in these races. Unfortunately, the odds are not always what I hope for: 5/2 or greater. I try to get the field down to 3 or 4 horses using the above and keeping a close eye on the race shape predicted by the doodles (Pace Generator) After the above if I've got what looks like a "clean" play I go to BBL and bet. (and pray).. Its a little time consuming but I have a lot of that these days (retired). I keep trying different approaches in hopes of finding something that leads to more winners. SO FAR,.If.the New Pace contenders are confirmed by VDC and the horses are in the race according to the Giles Pace Doddles ,they are bettable horses. |
