Missing Horse

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Ted,

I was working a past race from Penn National and noticed that horse three was completely missing.
I had a look through the bug thread, but couldn't find anything. Apologies if something is already there and I've missed it.

Here is the snip.

Thank you.

Jeebs 07-22-2018 06:23 PM

May have been an early scratch... Happens in California all the time.

DaveEdwards 07-22-2018 06:39 PM

Thanks for the shout Jeebs, but in this case the missing 3 horse came 2nd!

Ahh, gotcha! Perhaps a data provider issue? If you had an older version of RDSS on your computer, try and load the card to that and see what happens. If the same issue arises, I'd guess that it was a bad TM file.

DaveEdwards 07-22-2018 06:45 PM

It was definitely downloaded on the newer version to begin with.
Plus it's bed time now, but thanks for the suggestion Jeebs!

I agree - the #3 horse ran and finished 2nd. Don't know why it is missing. I'll add it to the list.

tote display

1 Attachment(s)
this is probably related to the other tote problems but the ml odds for the first horse does not display on the tote odds screen

Ted Craven 07-23-2018 04:48 PM

Charlie, not sure what to do about that. The ML Odds show up fine for me, though after the race has run.

I did not see your post until after the race had run though I see you posted a few minutes before it ran. If you ever see this again - before the race runs - please let me know again, even text me.

Thanks,

Ted

Hey there

Any one running windows 10
Running Rdss on and occurred many times a issue with the system restarting.
Error Code: Driver IRQL not less or equal
Could the issue be the install or a 3rd party issue
Thanks again again
And good skill all

Lawrence, if by 'system restarting' you mean when running RDSS, Windows 10 itself - the whole Operating System - needs to restart with the message you give - then, no I have never seen RDSS cause Windows to crash. It may be something else happening on your computer.

If you mean - RDSS crashes - then, yes, seen this many times. This is a general part of making RDSS more stable in general, partly through better memory management and partly through a migration to a 64 bit version which will run on Windows 10. The next version might have a bit more memory stability, but the 64 bit version probably won't be available before the end of the year.

Right now, working on getting a stable version of RDSS out to a few testers, including promised tote and TwinSpires ratings restored before I leave for Saratoga next week.

I have had the same problem as Gandalf380 a few times at DMR. I am wary of the scratches so I have to double check the betting program

Another Missing Horse

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Ted,

I thought I ought to mention this one again as I've spotted another missing horse and so this isn't an isolated incident.

Penn National 31st March 2018 R2.
The missing horse is number 5 Flatter Me Big, which came 4th.

Ted Craven 09-07-2018 01:34 PM

Thanks Dave, I think I know what's happening. I hope to have it fixed soon!

I'll leave this in the Bugs Thread pending finding out more details about what you are seeing. Please email me as many details as possible, including screen shot if possible.

I hear you saying: when looking at a current day Analysis screen for a race, sometimes no tote appears. But when you restart RDSS, tote data then appears for the same race?

Also: sometimes an Analysis screen is blank after you have assembled a race. This is despite the Paceline Selection Strategy setting being set to something other than Manual, and the 'Select pacelines during Asembly' being checked.

Is that right?

If need be, we can connect computers. Email me to continue this further.

If it's not a Bug, I'll move this to its own separate thread.

Ted I also have had hat happen to me. Usually it happens after the 1st race of the day is done and the prices for the race recorded. When I open r2 there is no tote board numbers. I restart the program and all is ok the rest of the day.

Ted, Possibility that Trackmaster is trying to catch up?

Tim, I will check that.

Navy, if that describes your situation, just let me know (or otherwise, clarify). That is, you say, in ALL situations, RDSS NEVER displays tote data in the next live race - you ALWAYS have to restart RDSS. Technically, I'm not sure what you are reporting. I certainly observe that RDSS displays live tote data as the races move from one to the next, no need to restart ...

Ted

navyvet1994 10-02-2018 10:20 PM

yeah same same

barb craven 10-03-2018 11:03 PM

If I'm only playing one track, the tote appears in the first race, but when you proceed to the second race (if you are playing every race) after the first is finished and you have the mutuals, the tote doesn't appear. You have to restart the program to get it to appear again. I work around it by opening another one and going from one to the other on alternate races. Of course if I'm am playing 2 or more tracks then I switch back and forth. ie RP on #1 and PRX on #2 the first race, and the next race, PRX on #1 and RP on #2. That seems to the trick for now.

Ted Craven 10-04-2018 10:31 AM

OK, here's the tests I'm running today to duplicate this:

1. 1 track today for which I assembled all races YESTERDAY

2. 1 different track today with no races assembled (i.e. races will only get assembled, presumably, when the tote moves to the next race).

Open each in separate instances of RDSS some time before Race 1 for each goes off.

From what I see reported above, tote for race 1 for each track should work normally. There should be NO tote data for race 2 or subsequent until I restart each RDSS, after which tote should proceed until the end of all races.

Did I state that correctly?

Ted

Lt1 10-04-2018 11:52 AM

In my case that's right Ted. This happens 4 or 5 times a week.
Tim

barb craven 10-04-2018 12:11 PM

No, this happens to me for every race unless I follow the procedure I outlined above. I assemble the card just before I start using it.

barb craven 10-04-2018 12:20 PM

If I use one instance of RDSS and one track, tote won't appear after race 1 unless I restart for each race.

Ted Craven 10-06-2018 05:09 PM

Here's my report of testing this tote 'stalling' problem. I am using a slightly newer version that most of you (who got a testing version at Saratoga).

Thursday
- Assembled ALL Belmont races the night before. Thursday noon opened BEL and race 1 tote appeared. After Race 1 was official, the tote automatically rolled over to race 2. Races 2 - 9 all showed tote data automatically - no restart required.
-Assembled ALL Gulfstream West races TODAY (not the night before). Race 1 tote appeared, then rolled over to Races 2 - 8. Tote data displayed fine, no stalling in any race.
-for FL, LRL - did not Assemble ALL races in advance, rather just let each race get assembled as the tote rolled forward race to race. For all races beginning with Race 1, tote data displayed normally and continued with no stalling for the rest of the races for each track
- PEN, RP, SA: started in AFTER race 1 (e.g. began with Races 3,4,5, etc). Tote displayed fine with each track's initial race and continued normally until the end (except RP, which I closed before the end)

Friday
Opened WO, BEL, GPW and KEE before race 1 and went out for the afternoon (Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend, only dry day forecast here :):(). I did not Assemble any races in advance, just automatically race by race. When I returned, all races had run, all captured tote data normally.

I tried testing several difference usage scenarios where tote is happening -- Assemble ALL the day before, Assemble ALL today, Assemble none in advance - only race by race, join a card of races before Race 1, join it after Race1.

For all the above tests, I ran each track in a separate instance of RDSS. I used 2 computers for this, both running Win10, with up to 4 RDSS instances running at the same time.

So -- I cannot duplicate the reported 'tote stalling', requiring a restart for the rest of the races, or some kind of swapping dance between separate RDSS instances for the same race card.

I am using a slightly updated RDSS 2.1, but I don't remember making ANY changes to the tote system that would act differently from what I distributed for testing around Saratoga time.

HOWEVER, let me tune up this version I tested with and send it out to a few of you to see if you still get what you report or if the problem has resolved in the way my tests above show. If there are still problems, I'll have to connect remotely to a few of your computers to observe it happening and understand what the differences in usage might be.

Thanks everyone for your reports!

Ted

Bill Lyster 10-08-2018 10:50 AM

I downloaded the recent update yesterday, but still have the same problem and I am not sure its the same as others have experienced.

I assemble the races for the entire card sometimes choosing lines other than best of last three comparable. When I access the race as post time approaches, there is no Tote info. The only way to get it is to back out to the race summary and reassemble the race, which negates my line selections and contender/noncontender choices. I have to manually go back and check all line selections.

I have tried switching from one track to another and then back, and also looking at other races on the same card and then switching back, but it does not activate the Tote info. So if I have enough time I re-assemble and make choices again.

Its the only way it works for me, sorry to report.

Bill Lyster 10-08-2018 07:34 PM

Using the latest update, I cannot get results and prices from the Rx+ screen, no matter how many times I click the mutuel prices icon

I can however, get the mutuel prices and results from the Entries screen Icon, when then shows on the rx+ screen

I'm finding this as well'

Ted Craven 10-11-2018 07:11 PM

Thanks folks. It's confusing . Half the people who reported (some by email) on this tote continuity issue reported all was well with the latest test version - no stalling. The other half (reported above) reported no change - still a problem. This is the most difficult thing to debug - when I cannot duplicate a problem.

I'll keep on poking at it.

Re fetching TwinSpires Mutuels from button on Rx screens not working - TS changes things subtly, breaks stuff. I'm almost finished the change where login to TS is no longer required for quick Mutuels. Meanwhile, as Bill and Barb say - fetch them from the same Mutuels button on the Entries screen.

Ted

Ted Craven 10-13-2018 03:42 PM

OK, I have several examples now on my own computers of the tote stalling bug. I will get to the bottom of it!

downloaded PARX for 10/21. got the 10/21 horses but the 10/20 stats, scratches and Totes showed up How can I delete the file so i can reload it. Tried to just delete file but no joy.

Dorianmode 10-21-2018 08:58 AM

re-downloading data

You could try un-checking "Don't Duplicate Tasks" under the tasks list. That should allow a new download.

Clinton, you don't need to re-download anything from TrackMaster, and it won't help. All you need to do is Re-assemble the race(s) you're interested in: on the Card Summary screen, right-click the race to re-assemble (like the message says to the right of the buttons). If you have already Assembled All the races, click the Clear Cache button, the click the Assemble All button).

The time of your post - 1:33am - is the key to the problem. At the time in the early morning, TwinSpires has not yet posted the next day's ProfitLine or Prime Power numbers for tomorrow's races - the available ratings are still TODAY's, plus yesterday's races' tote info is usually still available.

RDSS knows to not fetch Oct 21 TwinSpires Ratings if it is not yet Oct 21, but as soon as it IS Oct 21 (i.e. midnight in whatever timezone you're in) - it does. But that early in the day it is getting YESTERDAY's ratings, not the proper CURRENT day. In my testing, the TwinSpires Ratings become available sometime after 5am Eastern Time. Before then, it's iffy which ones you'll get.

In a future version (next one?) I must check more specifically that we don't fetch tote or TS Ratings info that don't belong explicitly to the correct race (correct date). And I have added a button to the next version I'm testing which simply refreshes the TS Ratings without having to re-assemble a race (which loses your paceline selections and Contender groupings).

Again, just re-assemble the races in question - after about 5am or so, that will fetch TODAY's TS Ratings and clear out tote values from yesterday.

We had the 4 as an early scratch as opposed to the 1 which happened during the day, so when the race came into the Tote window, every time the Tote updated, the 5 got scratched.

I would go back and uncheck the 5, give it a line, but when the tote updated, scratch every time - until it was past post time

Ted Craven 11-16-2018 03:07 PM

Bill, yes, still same with DMR as previously noted: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=119 and my reply following.

If DMR and SA would simply include Early Scratched horses in the list of runners like every other track, it would not be a problem.

I can and will fix this, eventually :(

MEANWHILE - I think this can work around it: disable tote in RDSS when it misbehaves, as follows:

1. Open the Configure File in the Configure Tab by clicking the Edit Configure File button.

2. Find the section in that Configure File beginning [General]. Add the following line: Tote_enabled=0 (that's a zero = 0)

3. Save the Configure File and close it.

4. Restart RDSS.

Now the toteboard including scratches will not be retrieved. When you want the toteboard again, either delete that newly added Tote_enabled setting, or change it to Tote_enabled=1.

This was a 'back-door' workaround to totebord misbehaviour I put in RDSS then forgot about . Next time DMR or SA omits an Early Scratch, try this workaround.

Again, I'll get it fixed as soon as I can.

Ted

Hey Ted
Are we able to get off topic on to this problem?
When running RDSS continues to crash.
When sorting pace lines by AUTO pilot

Ted Craven 11-17-2018 08:09 PM

Don't drive RDSS (or your automobile) on AUTO pilot ;)

Or - can you elaborate? Do feel free to start another thread about it.
