You downloaded and first assembled that Belmont card using a previous version. If you re-assemble that card in the updated version (V2.1.049.11) everything will look normal. Same goes for the other card you downloaded today.

Good luck at the Belmont opener!

Ted

Hey Ted thanks!
I got that all squared away. Unfortunatley now im having an error message issue.

Everytime I click on a race or even open RDSS I get this, any ideas?

Ted Craven 04-26-2019 12:05 PM

Apparently, you have to be connected to the Internet to not get that message. That should definitely be corrected! If you can have internet access while running RDSS, I believe you will not experience that.

I am striving to get an update, as mentioned in the Announcement, covering the short-term things I was aiming for, but I had to release this emergency update first due to TwinSpires changes which crippled the previous V2.1.048-a.

I think I will hold off on the next update until AFTER Kentucky Derby so as to not cause any problems at the worst time

Morning Ted. I encountered a problem with WO this morning. Last night I downloaded both OP and WO (both of which worked fine yesterday)This morning I went to assemble them. OP assembled properly as usual, but when I tried to assemble WO It wouldn't do it and the screen looked like this. Attachment 47996
I right clicked to reassemble and it would only do one race at a time, but finally (I thought ) finished. and it looked like this.Attachment 47998
I opened race 2 and got this screen. Attachment 47997
Curious, I followed through and the analysys screen was empty .Attachment 47999,
but when I clicked on each horse, they came upAttachment 48000.
but nothing appears on the analysis sscreen. I went back and unclicked the do not duplicqte and downloaded it again and restarted RDSS2. with the same results. Any thoughs?

Ted Craven 04-27-2019 08:57 AM

Barb, here's what I tested, Version 2.1.049.11.

Yesterday downloaded WO and OP (and everything else).

This morning, assembled ALL races for WO. The 0 MTP mark indeed came up on Race 8, but then after a moment it switch to Race 1 = 99 MTP.

I checked Entries for Race 1, then all other races. Every race Entries, Analysis screens and horse PPs appear normal.

I have Paceline Selections Strategy set to automatically select pacelines during race assembly.

Sorry, I was not able to duplicate your screen shots for any race :(. May I suggest you restart RDSS, open Woodbine, click the Clear Cache button on the Card Summary screen, then reassemble ALL races. See if that rights things? I'm not sure why that happened.

FYI, when you right-click on a race to reassemble it, it will ONLY reassemble that individual race. To reassemble ALL races, you should Clear the Cache first of all races, then click Assemble ALL.

I will assemble ALL races for some other tracks to see if anything appear abnormal.

Ted

That fixed the problem. Thanks Ted.

had the same problem today at OP...the first 3 and 9th races came up like this

the other races worked fine.

also got this error when i tried to export the data file to my model on the 1st 3 and 9th races...the other races exported with no problem.

i re downloaded the file cleared the cache and reassembled those 4 races but had the same problem

Ted Craven 04-29-2019 11:21 AM

rainman, I'm sorry I have no ideas why some races on that OP card yesterday assembled and displayed correctly and some others did not. Nor why some races' exports to Excel produced that error message and others not.

I can see WHY that error message might occur and I have fixed it for the forthcoming update, but it should occur with ALL races all the time, yet it does not. I don't understand that. But the update should fix that.

I read your message to mean that the improper Entries screen displays were solved by re-assembling - you did not say they were not solved. Only that the Export error message persisted despite re-downloading and reassembling.

Did I get that right?

Please let me know by email if future races exhibit the same error message.

Thanks.

Ted

rainman 04-29-2019 12:12 PM

Sorry Ted for not being very clear. I have my pace line selections set for automatic selection but for some reason the first 3 and 9th race would not select pace lines. I could click on the horses number and manually select a pace line for these 4 races and they were the only races that would not export. Hope this explains it a little better and thanks for the quick reply. Maybe I just had a glitch somewhere as i have never had this happen before.

Ted Craven 04-29-2019 01:05 PM

Well that's odd . I didn't work Oaklawn yesterday but I just now assembled both those races with auto-paceline selection set and everything assembled quite normally.

Again, somethings I understand and somethings I don't :(. Please do keep me posted by email if similar happens for you in upcoming race cards.

Last Line Selection

Hi Ted,

I know this release was not meant to be a release, but with TrackMaster's changes it forced your hand early. The only real problem I have with using it, is that I use the last line as my default paceline. So, I select the paceline setting, use last line, but it does not select the last line, usually it defaults to manual select, but sometimes seems to go with best of last 3. You might look at this for the real release, it's not critical, I go through line by line anyways, but it would be nice to be able to default to the last paceline on selection. Thanks, Dan

Ted Craven 04-29-2019 03:15 PM

Dan, first - to clarify: it was TwinSpires not TrackMaster who forced my hand with some kind of subtle change to their API (back-end webpage) for retrieving today's Track List (and thus 'broke' RDSS V2.1.048-a). And to be fair, TS is not required to inform anyone of any changes they make to that API: while it is a PUBLICly accessible API, as far as I know they do not license it or support it to any particular users, sot hey can change it whenever they want.

That said, I am going to try to be more proactive to building in work-arounds and 'switching off' tote access in upcoming versions (i.e. failure of such 'outside' links should not crash the entire software).

Re automatic paceline selection: I just tested (again) the various Paceline Selection Strategies (PSS) and choosing Last Line as the PSS seems to work as well as it ever did (unless the last line is unusable). All the lines chosen are = 1. Could you please try that again by changing the PSS to Last Line and see if it works normally.

I get this regularly if I keep the program open while not doing anything with it.

gandalf380 05-04-2019 04:37 PM

results problem

I cannot obtain results from the rx3 screen. I can only get them from the box on the entries screen.

dlivery 05-04-2019 05:23 PM

Hay! you are not alone

Im replying also same error:p

Swifty0x0 05-04-2019 05:57 PM

For me RDSS 2.1 crashed as soon as the Kentucky Derby minutes to post became active, and I haven't been able to select CD since then (crashes each time).

We might need a switch in the software to manually turn on/off live odds.

Yes, still the case, and since some time. This is unchanged in the current emergency update.

Right after the last race prior to the Derby, I went back to review Derby choices. RDSS had quit, so I restarted it and clicked on CD. Program closed. Did this 5 times with same result. I can access any other track previously downloaded today, but not CD.

Went to download page and redownloaded with the box for do not duplicate marked. Got new download, but same thing. I can access all but the CD card.

I redownloaded the program and still cannot get the CD program to come up before the program crashes.

Noted. Try adding this line to the Configure.ini file, in the [General] section:

Tote_enabled=0

Save the Configure.ini file. Restart RDSS. See what happens. This turns off some elements of tote data retrieval though not all.

Difficult to test if that helps on this particular race, since the in-progress version I'm working with since 2.1.049.11 seems to work.

Ok. :( No particular advice, sorry.

RDSS crashed derby time

In stand by mode.

Thank You

Bill Lyster 05-04-2019 06:15 PM

used your suggested fix; no joy

There are other races and I have all the data on paper for CD anyway, thanks,

dogkatcher 05-04-2019 06:17 PM

Will open and d/l 5/3 but click on Derby program disappears completely.
Good Luck all

Swifty0x0 05-04-2019 06:22 PM

Ted,

Using that switch, Tote_enabled=0, it worked as far as being able to open CD while the Derby is the current race (basically, opened ok).

Good! So - mileage varies ...

Will be interesting to see if CD Race 13 opens normally afterwards.

Lesson (and note to self): don't let RDSS depend on outside data sources which can be changed with no notice.

Ted

dlivery 05-04-2019 06:30 PM

RDSS crashed

All cards till the derby were fine with some errors.

dogkatcher 05-04-2019 06:39 PM

Tote enabled worked for me, thanks Ted your da man.

Ted Craven 05-04-2019 06:40 PM

Checking further 'under the covers' I notice that TwinSpires is reporting 21 horses in its tote stream. It is possible the RDSS code did not allow for more than 20 horses and does not fail gracefully enough when encountering that.

I do note that the above mentioned Tote_enabled=0 solution seems to resurrect the Derby Race 12 for analysis, at least on several computers I checked running V2.1.049.11

Ted

dlivery 05-04-2019 06:50 PM

Oh well
Moving to the next race :)

dlivery 05-04-2019 07:14 PM

Rdss

Stop opening completely before the Derby
We moved on to the next race will not open.

gandalf380 05-04-2019 07:29 PM

fix worked for derby and then I reverted the config file and next race worked fine. I think you are right and it has to do with number of horses

Ted Craven 05-04-2019 07:29 PM

Race 13 seems to be running with (and without) tote now.

Ted

Swifty0x0 05-04-2019 08:03 PM

Another few issues with the CD card I encountered were, no automatic contender win box checked (had to check each horse manually), no visual ESP designation (and could not select one), some factors on the entry screen were blank, and it would crash when checking off the scratches (on the entry screen).

These issues did not occur in every race either.

winning 05-04-2019 10:07 PM

Hi Ted, can't reopen Kentucky Derby race, keeps on crashing, other races ok.

Note: this post moved from another Thread. I think the discussion above covers the question/comment.

I have been getting the program to have missing data on some races and the other races are ok. I have been tried to clear cache and reassemble, but does not work. Thanks

Ted Craven 05-05-2019 05:25 AM

Any clues what races those are ...?

Swifty0x0 05-05-2019 06:59 AM

Hi Ted,

Went back in the CD card and the races that had those problems with missing data and the other few things I mentioned were the turf races (checked races 7, 9 and 11 - race 5 seemed ok).

Also checked some dirt races - races 1 and 4 had missing data on the entry screen.

gfnut 05-05-2019 02:23 PM

Those are Races 1 and 2 at Santa Anita may 5th

You posted that message at 4:52 AM (Mountain Time, default time of P&C server). One race has TS figs (PL, BPP and the other not). The availability of those figs overnight is sketchy, depending on when TwinSpires publishes data for next day. Sometimes overnight, it's not quite clear if the figs are the day before or the next day. I would always suggest refreshing the TS figs the following morning when it's unambiguous. The PL and BPP figs showing in race 2 are NOT for today May5 (must be May 4)

The button on the Card Summary and Entries screen labeled 'Refresh TS Ratings' is there so you can ... refresh the TS ratings if you initially worked the race before the current day figs were available.

I don't know what is wrong with the CSR data. But likely it will appear normally if you reassemble that race now. They both did normally for me, just now.

Ted

Mitch44 05-06-2019 06:27 AM

Ted when you refresh the TS Ratings does it retain all your previous work such as selection of pace lines or scratching contenders?
