The Entropy Program
1 Attachment(s)
Here is race 6 from Tampa Bay on March 17th
I will run the race in Entropy II This is a demonstration of what each screen shows, The PP's and my paceline and contender comments are up in the teaching forum Naturally like most or all of the Dos based Bradshaw/Sartin Programs The first screens are for pace line entry, I do not hand enter pacelines anymore, I send my selected pacelines with the tap of a button from RDSS The pacelines can be sent either as original or adjusted I choose to send the lines as original, Then inside of entropy, I automate/ project to today's distance. Here I have projected the lines to today's distance of 6.5 furlongs Attachment 47879 |

The next screen is important
You must decide how to adjust the remaining analytical screens You must make the call to use the auto adjust ( 1) or the Alternate (2) or the manual adjust Attachment 47882 |

That is it
This concludes my demo of the Entropy Program
Do you think you can spot the winner of the Tampa Race based on the screens of Entropy? Entropy was designed to narrow the race to no more than 4 or 5 contenders for clients who were entering too many or every horse in the race. Then the top 4 or 5 were sent to thoromation Can you spot the winner and place horse in this race without using Thoromation I think you can :) |
Absolutely awesome workup Bill. Thank you for taking the time to lay out all the screens in addition to your thoughts and proper use/evaluation of the screens! :)

I agree with Richie great demo of using the program thanks Jeff |
Bill: My favorite program of all the older programs was and is Entropy.
When I first came to RDSS it was still on the final screen with BLBL etc. Ted removed it because of redundancy with V/DC. In actually V/DC was birthed from Entropy and is a much greater factor. What makes V/DC so confusing to the majority is the format Sartin used to display it. Americans by and large are oriented on a scale of 100 which is why the simplicity of TPR and the old Entropy are still very popular. Also I guess it was meant to keep the pirates at bay. Users quickly get the Entropy format. As Sartin said people learn and grasp by different means so he used graphs, numbers, segment screens etc. I can get winners from the Energy Generator screen alone because of concept. Sartin always stressed the understanding of concept which took a long time to develop in my brain housing group. Is Entropy the golden grail or as good as the present RDSS program? Hell no! Every program produced by Sartin was an improvement internally and produced more winners. Why settle for a bite when yo can have the whole enchilada. At the time Entropy was a great tool for deciding a proper pace line but the Preceptor does a much better and simplistic job today. The nemesis of Entropy and Thoromation was that pesky 1 and 2 adjust which caused many users to lose races. Through research Sartin was able to eliminate it and greatly improve its proficiency. Thanks for the memories Bill and great interpretation of all the screens. Hope your well Bill and winners jump up off the page at you. Mitch44 |
I dont think the purpose of this was to compare Entropy to RDSS
Bill thanks again very much for taking the time to demonstrate it |
Richie
I really miss the times when you used to do races with the various computer programs, you made some really good videos. Your knowledge with the readouts along with Bill were the best. Jeff |
Shoeless:
My thread was about Entropy and its evolution into V/DC as in todays RDSS, not off topic and appropriate to RDSS and Sartin material. Members are mature enough on this site to choose their own courses of action, Sartin always allowed free flow of ideas. That choice not only includes what program they use but also what they read. By brainstorming and staying on topic many have the information to make more informed decisions. Sartin was a firm believer in progression or in layman terms if your stalled in the middle of the road you're about to get run over by a piggy back semi truck. I'm in the cab riding with Sartin as he drives on to the objective. Mitch44 |
Hi Bill
To get back to the topic at hand would Entropy varigate the race the same as the Energy program would Jeff |
Jeff
The screen that variegates the race Early or OTE would be the
KGRAPHs This feature was added once clients found out that Entropy could be used as a handicapping program, Entropy was first developed and was called DC Pars. It was a tool to narrow the race down to just a few contenders, Those true contenders which rated well on Entropy were then sent to Thoromation |

Hi Mitch
For a very short time, The VDC readout was presented in a Phase 1 type "100" scale, This was on the program named the Synthesis SMT program, The SMT or Sartin Multi-Track program was just around for a few months, SMT was replaced with Validator and the VDC readout was only shown as a compound readout thereafter. Doc went away from the "100" type readouts, He went instead to compound ratings. He wanted clients to get away from missing longer price horse. He felt that people would miss longshots because they were modeling the value of the winning horses, not that the top 3 valued horses in VDC were to be rated as equal, and that the final odds were a better betting guide |
Bill
I would guess the 8 horse to be the winner as it was top on both graphs. Jeff |
Mitch
Is Entropy the golden grail or as good as the present RDSS program? Hell no There was no reason to post this here as this is a classic program section, Bill had even posted this in the teaching area so why not put it there. Also the point of this was to demonstrate the Entropy program. The purpose here is to demonstrate using the older programs which Bill,Ray and FTL have been nice enough to do. Everyone here knows RDSS is a good program and Ted has done a excellent job.I even know it as Ted was nice enough to let me try it and I doubled my bankroll just using the TPR numbers. But there are a few of us for one reason or another prefer the older programs. We dont have to be constantly reminded by you that RDSS is a good program. Jeff |
Hello Bill,
I never saw the Synthesis SMT program and may have been using Jimmy's Aodds Gold program at the time. I like the 100 scale as it easily defines the difference. With V/DC trying to determine the diff. between a 2.4 and a 2.7 is unknown except to say their close. V/DC doesn't really differentiate. A true comparison would be FPS verses TPR on a 100 scale. With wager capping say of the top 3 or 4 of any factor, the odds are easily detectable and distinguishable. Wishing good health and a killer day tomorrow. Mitch44 |
Shoe:
There is every reason to post what I said in this particular discussion. First of all it is on topic and there are many who may not be aware that Entropy morphed into V/DC. There are always new members or fairly new members and they should be aware of that fact in order to make informed decisions. They may even think Entropy and V/DC are two different factors. Or even wonder why its not in the present RDSS. I will always attempt to inform, clarify and help those desiring to achieve success with RDSS. Many may not know this but the "Doc" said V/DC was better than BLBL. The bomb of factors so to speak, which he developed over the years. Given all the necessary information a member is free to choose any program, factor or procedure they want. I don't recall anyone forcing change to any thing you do, so to be frighten or annoyed of my posts is absolutely absurd. Mitch44 |
Programs
Hi Mitch
To paraphrase Ted in talking about programs. The old dos standard programs that are discussed here in the classic program forum will occasionally get horses that RDSS will not get,And RDSS will come up with horses the old programs will not. Most likely all Sartin programs will get the same horses in the top 3 or 4 Maybe in a slightly different order,\ Not that this is an issue anymore however since nobody does race demos anymore. and the Matchup area has been dormant for many months In the few races I have demonstrated, I would expect that RDSS based demo's should be confined to the main Sartin methodology today area's of Pace and Cap If an old program is being demonstrated, race demonstrations and discussions should be confined to this classic area, This will avoid confusion for new members I purposely posted the race in 2 forums. So far there has been no response or discussions in that area, Even though it is in an open area and the RDSS PP's are shown, Nobody including RDSS users bothered to reply I would be interested in hearing your opinion of the RACE |
Hi Bill,
At the time this race was posted in another area I either did not see it or had other priorities. My original post in the Entropy was about Entropy. Apparently depending on the topic, posting here is becoming very nit picky on one thread however not on another that goes off topic to the point it even has nothing to do with horseracing. I see absolutely no confusion to members accept for those who'll make a contrived issue out of something that never existed. Most members are intelligent to understand these posts or they ask. Members deserve all the best information to progress and then they can plot their own course of action. It is really all about choice and they shouldn't have to sleep at a Choice hotel to get it. My contenders for this race if I remember correctly would have been the 3-6-8- which I got off the Energy Generator that was posted. The 8 was counter energy and the 3 & 6 had the same running style. Without having all my normal data I can't honestly say which two would have been my final two for betting. There is many ways to slice and dice final contenders to make final decisions. Thanks for putting it up, wishing a winning day. Mitch44 |

When the same horse is on top of both the SP and EXDC graphs, It is a spot play as per the follow-ups Mitch Thanks for nailing the contenders down, I agree I saw the winner just by the Energy Generator, |
I will always attempt to inform, clarify and help those desiring to achieve success with RDSS
There is nothing wrong with that but this area is not the place to do it. As I stated before Bill,Ray and FTL thanks very much for keeping the older programs alive in THIS AREA. Richie really wish for old times sake you would do a race with one of the classic programs I think it would benefit people here that still use them Jeff |
Bill
You will probably think this is crazy but Im getting the winners from Energy and using Entropy to help narrow down contenders and for exactas. Jeff |

Until you start running this site I'll post where I deem its appropriate. Its called a forum for a reason, have a great day. Mitch44 |
I remember you from another site I was on cant recall the name
of it.There was a guy on there Iceman who was using Black Magic but was teaching other stuff on racing which people wanted to learn about. Just because you didnt agree with him you had to ruin it for the rest of us and he ended up stopping . So it does not surprise me at all what you do here. |
Shoeless:
I remember upon joining this site and that Black Magic came up in a discussion. You accused me "trolling" the site as if to subvert it etc. Your obviously a Pizzolla fan which is fine but in a forum people are allowed to express their opinions even when one disagrees with that opinion. As I stated then that after giving it a 90 trial I'm well qualified to comment on it however giving an opinion and "trolling" are entirely two different matters. For those that are unaware of Pizzola he was thrown out of the Sartin group by none other than Sartin himself for stealing along with Schmitz. As Sartin I have always placed integrity very high in my life. What I do here is try to help members and inform after which it is up to them to choose their own course of action. Some just for personal reasons refuse to let something go and play childish last word games. Many here like my posts but of course there are those that don't and that's fine. Its all about choice but that choice and options has to be available, its a give and take. Forums are discussions and in any free flow of information everything isn't agree on, to have less would not be conducive to learning. I did try to find your " trolling" post however with over 3,000 posts what a valuable waste of my good time. However I did fine an interesting post of yours dated 30 June 2013 titled "Truth of the Matter" to which you state; " It is unbelieveable in thisday and age how you cant voice your opinion even on a horse race message board. The powers to be here make like they are trying to help you but the truth of the matter is all they are doing is trying to sell RDSS." All I can say Shoe is that it appears I stand in good company with the owner and his Mom on this site. Therefore I must thank you for the compliant as its the best one I had today. I gave my good friend Lt1 a tip about NIP's. NIP is an acronym for Negative Influence People. Horseracing is full of NIP's and if one associates with them they tear you down and can greatly effect your game. I avoid them at all costs but will not stand for personnel attacks and always fight back. Momma did raise a fool and getting bullied isn't in my DNA as I'm a product from the school of hard knocks. You can have the last word am I'm moving on to my main objective of winning. Mitch44 |
Just remember also how you tried to ruin it for people who wanted to
learn FTL's guidelines just because you didnt agree with them. Yes this forum is for people giving their point of view but in my opinion not to try and ruin it for others who are interested in a certain topic. |
Shoe, Mitch, I think both of you make good contributions to this site. No reason to feud in my humble opinion...
|
Lefty:
Read the Monkey post of mine as we're no longer "feuding" and this was solved. Just difference of opinions, we both have moved on. Things like this can happen in an open forum where people are passionate in their beliefs. Shoe was man enough to reach out in a PM and I was man enough to accept our difference. I've been married over 50 years and the road isn't always smooth but no way am I giving her up. BTW I doubt neither one of us has changed our beliefs but that OK and why they make so many different flavors of ice cream. Freedom of choice to options and speech is quite alright. Mitch44 |
Sounds good to me. By the way, I'm coming up on my 47th wedding anniversary myself. You're right, no smooth road but worth it.
