*RDSS Update V0.97.8*
1 Attachment(s)
Hello Friends,
I have posted an update to RDSS on the RDSS Download Forum for the testing group and just sent everyone an email. If you thought you were in the RDSS testing group but did not receive the email or can't login to the Download Forum using your Pace and Cap UserID, just drop me a line at ted@ArtofPace.com I've added new Paceline Indicators based on unadjusted (or adjusted) Pace of Race Total Energy where the horse ran well (Powerlines?) which Richie has been discussing lately, Layoff markups, a new Configuration Settings window which permits some control over how adjustments are used. I also kinda spruced up the RDSS Desktop. Here are the release notes for anyone interested: www.ArtofPace.com/pubs/RDSS_Update_Notes_0978.pdf Attachment 10839 FYI, I plan to hold some Online Seminars in the next several days to go over some of the new features. I'll let you all know when that will be, for whoever is interested. I'll also hold some more online introductory seminars in case any of the newer testers (or spectators) are interested. Happy Valentine's Day! yours, Ted |
Ted,
Having the same download problems as on last release |

Could not connect to the TrackMaster server? Does the software retry every 15 seconds to connect? Do you ever connect? Can you connect by just goind to their main page via your browser, or by the direct link to the RDSS file downlod page? Ted |
Ted:
This weekend I used the new version to handicap for the first time. One problem. On the configuration screen I asked the program to show power moves but it did not show any in any of the races from SA or TP. Am I missing something here? |

Power Moves problem

Ted:
See the screen shots of the config screen and a few of the entrants from TP 11 today. I exited program and re-started to no avail. Do we apply old computer trick and just access update and reload? |
Ted,
I have the same problem that Bill does. I did the races for Philly and Tampa, and made sure those boxes were checked. This has been happening since I downloaded the update. Ira |
Ted,
I'm having similar problems. Just looked at todays Pha and some of the power moves are highlighted-some aren't. I.e. in todays 2nd, Pha, the one horse shows a power move between the 1st and second calls two back, but not for the last in which he gains more lengths to a faster second call. Richard Still lovn rdss, just caught that 25/1 shot in philly 2nd! |
Could those of you who experience this problem despite having checked the 'Display Strong Moves' box please look in your RDSS.INI file (a Configuration type file on your RDSS folder, opens with Notepad), and look for a line starting with 'Powermove_display=' in the [General] section, and tell me the value on the right hand side of the = sign
It could be 0, or 1 or just blank. If there is no such line at all, please let me know. If this doesn't shed any light, I'll do an interim debugging version to gather some more info. Dodeca, what you refer to is a different issue. You see some underlines (Strong Moves) just not where you'd define them. In future I will make the definition of such moves more under you control. Right now, per the last Release Notes, the definition is: "...position gains of 3 or more between any 2 call points. This includes where a horse got the lead at the 2nd Call or Stretch call and extended his lead to the finish by 3 or more lengths over the rest of the field (a Big Finish)." This was not the case for the last line, but I agree that first call move was a good move into a strong pace and would show up so if you were to compare the POR vs POH on a graph However, missing Strong Move markups (the underlines) altogether: this is a bit strange, but thank you all none the less for the reports: it's precisely what I am expecting from the testing group! Thanks very much! Ted |

Bill, Ira,
Here's the problem (referring to Bill's screenshot above, enlarged 25%): Attachment 11069 Big Glen's last line should show a Strong Move (SM) marker between the 2nd and stretch calls (gained 5 positions). You can see a gap between the red and the green of the Stretch calls for the 1st and 2nd lines where the SM underline marker should be (is). The same gap does not exist between the two reds of the final calls of the same 2 races (i.e. no SM). The problem is that your particular graphics adapter is interpreting the pale blue colour I used for SM markups as being effectively invisible (or too close to the background colour to see it). The SM marker is there (you can see the gap) but with a useless colour. I wanted the marker to be relatively unobtrusive, so I chose a pale colour which worked OK on 3 of my screens and a few others'. For the next release, I will make it so you can control the colour used for both the Layoff marker and the SM marker in case the default colour does not work for your graphics card. I'll also make the default colour be the same light grey used for the Layoff markers. Thanks for that report - I think that fixes it. (In the meanwhile, if you felt like it, you could twiddle with the colour settings on your monitor so that that colour shows up as something visible...) Ted |
Twiddling progress report:
Went to Control Panel - appearance - and found that instead of default blue colors I was using the silver option. Once changed, Big move lines magically appeared. Thank you Mr. Wizard! Bill |

Here's what Bill is referring to (you can also right-click your Desktop then choose Properties):
Attachment 11071 I will test any hard-wired colour schemes in the 3 schemes provided with Win XP (Blue, Silver, Olive) to make sure they make sense. Win Vista has a ton more of colour schemes and I'll do the best I can. When in doubt, go default! Thanks Bill! Ted |
Bill and Ted,
Thanks I changed my default to Blue and now I also have the power moves. Thanks for all of you r help. The program is working very well, and i have made some money with it. Ira |
*RDSS Update V0.97.8a*
Hello All,
I released a minor update today which mostly serves to fix the problem with new track codes appearing. You can download it from the usual place, and I have sent an email to everyone currently on the RDSS Testing Group mailing list. If you thought you were on that list, and didn't get the email, just drop me a line at ted@artofpace.com. If anyone wants to jump in and begin working with RDSS in its current Beta state, and is willing to give me some feedback, just let me know and I'll be happy to set you up:). Ted |
Ted:
Lately, I've been back testing some old races and at odd and irregular times the program times out or stops if it takes more than 10 seconds or so after i hit the past performance button. The program closes itself down completely. Its not a biggy, but it annoys. got any ideas? Bill |
Ted,
I have also had that problem. It always seems to happen at Tampa towards the end of the card and always a turf race with more than 10 entries. When I click on past performances I get an error report message and the program just kicks me out. I just restart it and it works perfectly. Just thought I'd also let you know. Ira |
