The Match Up Program

I have been using The Match Up program by Bradshaw / Kovach since I purchased it 10 years ago. Recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista and am unable to to install. I have the original Name / Serial Number but keep getting a "General Transfer Error" as the disc starts decompression and advice to check if I have access to this program. I have installed this program on three previous computers without a problem. Any advice will be appreciated.

** I would suggest contacting "The Programmer" here as that is Mr. Kovach. Hopefully he can help you. **

The software DOSBOX could help.

Most likely the issue is that the installer is not compatible with Vista. I am not sure if DOSBOX would help with the issue or not as it isn't really a DOS issue (as the software is Windows software).

XP has a compatibility mode, if Vista also has a compatibility mode you might try installing using that mode (I do not have Vista (actually I use Mac nowadays) so I cannot check on this for you). If someone here has Vista they may be able to check on compatibility mode.

I have The Match-Up running on Vista in compatibility mode. Randy is correct as usual. He is one of the best programmer's I have known and I was in the business 40 yrs.

for vista users...

right click on exe file
choose properties at bottom...
click compatibility tab...
put "x" in first box and choose windows xp sp2

Thanks Mike! Good to know Vista is the same as XP in that regard.

Sartin dos programs are 32 bit and will not run on vista 64 bit without some work.
I installed dosbox and then had to take the computer off of administrator to edit dosbox config. Then you can put it back on administrator and run everything through dosbox.

two cents worth

you really neednt use an installation disk: i have the matchup program, and it is composed of two executable files, BRUN30.exe and a MATCH.exe. Copy those files to a memory stick, manually create a matchup folder in the programs file, or anywhere else that pleases you, paste your executables, create a shortcut, and voila, the matchup. you will need dosprn to run your printer.

i would seriously recommend tamedos to you: this program reduces the load on your cpu (running a dos program in vista exceeds 50% total cpu capacity on average, with spikes up to 100% fairly common); it also manages dos' peculiar memory and graphics requirements without a hitch. i believe it costs 15 bucks.

Thanks for all of the advice. Sorry it took me so long to respond. Unfortunately, to quote the Stones “nothing I do seems to work”. Perhaps the 3.5” discs are corrupted. Anyway I appreciate the effort.

This option won't work for me because I did not save the files from my old computer. The current files are compressed on 3.5" floppys and they won't install. Thanks anyway.

In the FUTURE guys can we move ALL discussions/help regarding ANY software out of the Hat Check area out of respect to Jim.

Searching HIS posts you will see he had NO use for software and didn't want it in this area including HIS stuff ok?
