Whenever there are more than three logicals it is time to pass
THAT race, a type that is becoming all too common, is all about survival not running ability: Get out into a good position early and then HANG ON. No stamina in the breed and it is sad |
phil 2nd #7
|
the 6 looks hard to beat in the 2nd @ pha. maybe 2-5--
|
Logic says :6: :7: in Philly 2nd but so far, the odds board says look elsewhere

With the software we have, there are many gold mines in UGLY races. I have made bundles on races everyone else abandoned.....There is money to be made in many of them as the crowd has no clue like we have.

Tampa

I look at races simply. What do the pressure horses do before the opportunists (those close at the second call) crank it up. The front group have a TREMENDOUS advantage on dirt, Always have, always will. Thanks again to Huey as I just re-read his great little book again over the weekend in between fighting the sun and shadow, 6 f stop exposure difference at the finish line at Fraser Downs Harness races. Thak goodness for neutral density filters. |
:6: :3: hardly a surprise in the baby race :5: closed strongly last out on an easy pace
One two three but then everyone KNEW THAT |

pass i'll leave maybe $8 on the table |
Late scratches: You would be surprised at how many times it is the rider and not the vet that points out problems that require late scratches. I guess it is to their advantage in heading off potential accidents that could be disastrous to their income.
I have learned a ton about equine medicine from our gate vets. Both are ladies who tolerate my incessant questioning and are good sports with the raucous gate crew. |
Huehy
Tim that was a great book. IMO the best written on pace. Sorry i do not have my copy anymore. Was that The Race is Pace. Wondering if i can find that anywhere?

Often talk is like this: "if you run today to help me fill this race, I will open the conditions of that allowance race Saturday for you good filly." OR the Jimenez family does NOT know what the heck they are doing |
SPEED over stamina but No money to either choice
|
A lot is going to go with the SIX here in the maiden 7 furlong contest
Furlong from the contraction of "furrow" (plowed field) and a specified distance (long) The furlong, short for "furrow-long," is said to have been the distance a horse could pull a plow before having to rest. Its length was a matter of confusion for quite a spell, but by the 16th century folks generally agreed that it consisted of 40 rods of 16-1/2 feet each, or 660 feet in all-- and of course eight furlongs was 5,280 feet. |
