'Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level'

Is Jim Lehane still around? I'm interested in his book, but prefer an electronic copy for the iPad. I'd like to get in contact with him if possible. Looks like a good read.

Calibration Handicapping??

Hi, Jeebs - Good Afternoon

When I visited this Post, I also saw at the bottom a Thread started by Ted Craven, Last Post 09-01-2010 08:14 PM. It has the link:
http://www.free-horseracing-info.com...pping-cal.html

I'm very interested too about Jim Lehane's book, but you prefer an electronic copy for the iPad. Hoping to get more information on how to order.

Honestly, don't know if he is still around (he was sick) --but the book was very good in the areas of moves inside a race and form factors...

Also, I will mention he is a class guy --I bought his book and six months later my wife chucked it in the trash (she says by accident --but that is another story) ...I contacted Jim about it and he sent me another book free including the shipping....

He used to post at CJ's old site frequently --so you may want to contact him at pace advantage...

Ted Craven 06-30-2014 12:22 PM

Jim is indeed still in business, and has released an update to his Calibration Handicapping book on his website, which DSL has helpfully provided above:

http://www.free-horseracing-info.com...pping-cal.html

The update is named Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level. His email is given in a link at the bottom of his web page and folks have told me they have communicated with him recently.

RDSS users will know that some of the 'moves' he has documented are included as markups on the Original Screen (with Jim's kind permission).

I don't know if he makes a digital version available.

Since I ordered Jim Lehane's book "Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level." Ted Craven is correct that Jim is indeed still in business. When I get in contact with him by Email (or by phone), I will ask if he makes a digital version that is available.

I have the original copy and its a" must read" to me. It'll get you thinking !

Jeebs 07-02-2014 10:53 PM

I did make contact with Jim. Seems like an OK guy.

atkinsrr 07-03-2014 05:54 PM

THX for the info on the new book ....just placed my order

atkinsrr 07-04-2014 03:38 PM

Jim and I just traded e-mails this morning...He thanked me for purchasing his book

DocSartinLearner 07-04-2014 11:29 PM

Received Jim Lehane's book "Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level. Now, I'll have to set aside the time to read and understand it in the areas of moves inside a race and form factors... one must be proficient in each of the 3 (three) conditions of contender selection, valuation and strategic action. That's been the purpose of this book, to get you to that level.:)

Jim wrote me to say that anyone who has purchased his new book can get the PDF version for mobile devices (minus Charts and PPs). Just email him and ask.

Again, Jim's web page, with a description of his new book, is --> HERE.

The update is named Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level.

Folks, a clarification to my earlier comments: Jim's book is NOT an update, nor is it new - it's the same book he published in 2002. I've owned a copy for years and bought a new one based on - well, just not paying attention to his website. Jim graciously and quickly arranged a refund, and still sent me the PDFs - thanks Jim!

It's still a good book, with many valuable contributions to anyone's handicapping library.

I am very sorry if I lead anyone to believe it was an update to his earlier work. :o:o

Jeebs -
Very nice on your part in Welcoming Jim Lehane.
I also give him a Warm Welcome to the board!!

Ted Craven -
No worries at all. The 2002 Edition of 'Calibration Handicapping - The Next Level' is STILL a good read to become a good Thoroughbred Handicapper!!

Thanks to All,

Jim Lehane is a class act. Nice to see him online again. His book was extremely good as it contained a unique perspective on the horse handicapping puzzle.

Many thanks for the nice comments.

Unfortunately, due to illnesses I have to give up playing the t-breds.
I will miss it but have no choice.

Good luck to all.

Jim,

All I can say is epic!!

Thank you for sharing your personal gold nuggets with those who are looking for a contrarian approach. Your red-scan qualifying technique represents some of the most creative thinking since the dynamics of incremental velocity..:)

Cheer's,
