Sustained Pace
Ted
Is there a reason you do not offer the straight forward sustained pace rating on the Energy tab or POR, you have Hidden and FX, just curious. It would be nice to see the early pace(2nd call) and 3rd fraction averaged as well in the ratings. Vince |

SP Sustained Pace is a bit of a 'bland' factor, and got more depth as the years moved on. FW Factor W is more nuanced than SP - Routes: 1 part 2nd call, 2 parts F3. Sprints: 2 parts 2nd Call, 1 part F3. Also, L/ep - Late Energy Potential is even more nuanced, and provides, IMO, the best measure of balanced Late exertion among the readouts. Correlated is: TS+F3, which is, as suggested, the average of True Speed + F3 (TS = average velocity beginning to end). Modeling any of the above will give you better info about closing ability, by track, surface and distance, than SP alone does. I have been asked to provide a screen of the original MPH/Phase III readouts: EP, SP, AP, %E, though there has not been overwhelming demand for it. The same factors, or better, exist throughout RDSS (AP --> Total Energy, %E --> %Median, EP --> EPR or 2nd Call, or E/ep). cheers, Ted |
Dear Ted,
Thanks for defining and explaining. Vince |
Sustained pace follow
Ted:
So in regards to an improvement in sustained pace and turf racing, what would you recommend we look at. Obviously the horse must keep up but have that burst of speed that most turf race horses do. Are there some parts of RDSS that deserve more of our attention when it comes to turf racing? Late pace can't be the only factor, correct? Matt D. |
