New RDSS2 Documentation

Thanks to Mick's work on compiling many disparate notes on RDSS screens and usage, here are updated Documentation sets in both WORD and PDF format covering all older versions plus the unreleased, in-development Testing Version 2.1 of RDSS.

Here is the Word version (a DOCX file you can edit and send your ideas back to me) --> http://rdss2.com/V2.1-docs-word

Here is the PDF version of the same document (read only, or if you don't have Word) --> http://rdss2.com/V2.1-docs-pdf

Note: Documentation updated as of April 20, 2017. See updated items added, below.

As noted elsewhere, anyone who wishes to help test the new RDSS V2.1 is most welcomed. Just drop me a PM or email.

Thanks Ted and THANK YOU Mick! This is very useful. Coincidentally at this moment I was re-reading "Pace Makes the Race". You've come a long way baby, to plagerize the old cigarette ad. 😀

Hi Ted,

Being away from RDSS for a few years, I was wondering if
You can still convert RDSS to the older Sartin programs.
Does your software still have the capabilty to convert files.
If so where would I find that feature?

Ted and Mick,

Thanks for posting the definitions and documentation.
You and Mick did an excellent job.

I would be happy to see procedural videos from some of users to see how they successfully apply some of the many features the software offers.
This would give me a comfort level that I would be using RDSS in the correct manner and get me up an rolling in the right direction.

I realize that most users have there own way of using your software.
I would find it interesting to look at a variety of approaches to see how others are successfully using it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Bill, yes - V2.1 now exports to most flavours of older Sartin programs which use the RAC file extension. On any Analysis screen, with your Contenders chosen, left-click the Export Icon to automatically export to Excel (usually the more common choice), OR -- right-click to popup the Export Screen and choose among the formats and older Sartin Programs you want.

I know Mick hasn't added this to the Docs yet, and I'll get with him about it, especially as we move to more work on the internal RDSS Modeler.

Bill, those videos will be a very valuable part of the learning process for newcomers and old friends. Of course, they are on my list as formal aspects of the eventual roll-out of V2.1. I envision dozens or hundreds of short, to the point videos. Since V2.1 is still evolving and I'm still fleshing out various components, no point in starting those instruction videos now, though later this year for sure.

Meanwhile, anyone who has the means and desire to do their own helpful video tutorials from their point of view is more than welcomed to create and post them. Later on, I'll co-ordinate with whomever for a formal, 'official' instructional collection. I know Bill V creates small videos from time to time, both using RDSS and also older Sartin programs. Always informative!

As Ted mentioned Bill V also explained how to convert in the classic programs section

Good Luck

Mick has updated the RDSS2 Documentation on April 20, 2017. Use the download links at the top of this Thread.

New items added:

1. Projected Pace System
2. Marking selected pacelines (including multiple or All lines per horse) and using the Analysis Grouping tool (Primary, Secondary, Non-Contenders)
3. Explaining some new 'markups': a energy-dominant, visually Early horse; 'trouble' and trip notes when hovering over the Original Screen 'Final' column.
<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> <s>4. Using the sorting tool on various Analysis screen columns (RS, Tote, Rx, various Energy and Velocity columns).</s> Not yet. :o
5. How to change Running Styles
6. Correcting a mistake in the description of the E/L column on the TPR screen

All feedback welcomed.
