The "countdown begins"....90 days out till the "Big Dance" on the 1st Saturday in May at the Twin Spirals at Churchill Downs.
The 1st of Baffert's big three started his 3 year old Derby campaign with style. Mucho Gusto dominated. ("Nice to meet you" in Spanish when you greet someone new..) Does Baffert wait for the Santa Anita Derby or does he find another prep race??? This one looks to prep on the West Coast while Improbable might go to the Rebel and Arkansas Derby route. Attachment 47677 Attachment 47678 Mucho Gusto had a turn time of 23.2+ and a 3rd fraction of 31.2 on the sloppy track. The track at Santa Anita got drenched with heavy rain and the track was sealed. Super fast all week during storms. Battle of Midway and McKenzie also ran super fast clockings on the sloppy track. Attachment 47679 |
I asked my dad for a future wager on Collosium and he did it on HPI (which is the the prime betting here in Canada) and the odds were 35-1! I will be super happy if he can draw AND WIN THE DERBY!!!

Coliseum is off the Derby Trail
Quote from Paulickreport:
Godolphin homebred Coliseum finished third in Sunday's G2 San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita, defeated as the 0.70-1 favorite in the field of five. Trainer Bob Baffert told drf.com that the 3-year-old son of Tapit is “better than that,” and officially declared the colt off the Kentucky Derby trail. “I'm going to reboot him, kick him out for 30 days,” Baffert said. “We know he's good, but he doesn't want to train, he's sour.” |

Let's await Hidden Scroll's next race in the Fountain of Youth around 2 turns and a couple of questions to be answered...
1)Bounce?? Negative 2 on Thoro-Graph (published on Haskin's Top 12 Derby contenders) 2)Was first race enhanced by the sloppy track?? nevertheless, it was a huge performance... |
