Best turf tracks

Many of the nice hits I've posted have been selected by other people too. So, while we may not use the exact same programs or pick the same pacelines, there may be enough in common that the following tracks will produce pleasant profits for you.

Of course your own records are the best barometer of your success. Still, with that in mind, here are the ones that were the best for me.

This is based on two horse win bets. Flat betting $2 on each horse.

In the instances where I bet three horses (in rare circumstances four), I deducted $2 from the win payoff. Therefore, the ROI is spot on, but the win percentage may be slightly inflated.

Return On Investment -- ROI -- can sometimes be confusing. Here's an example of how I'm expressing it. For every dollar bet, if you get back $1.20 that would be an ROI of 1.20.

Track Win% ROI

TAM 71% 3.75
MTH 38% 2.59
CD 33% 2.25
FG 59% 1.67
KD 50% 1.56
DEL 47% 1.34
CRC 33% 2.25
BEL 37% 1.04

No other tracks were profitable for the course of the year 2008. My biggest surprise was CNL, where they run mostly turf races. I lost an astounding 64 cents for every dollar invested there. Needles to say, I'm not betting there again.

With the exception of TAM, all my profitable tracks hit less than the magic 60% win rate for two horse betting.

I thought I was hot stuff at Belmont. Turns out I didn't do much better than break even there.

This is not to suggest that these are the only profitable tracks for you to bet on the turf.

What I am suggesting is that you keep your own records.

I, for one, will not be making any serious bets on the lawn at any tracks other than the ones listed above.

Special thanks to sfc123, Steve, for providing the record keeping software. It's a zillion times easier to use than Bettor Keep Track.

May your grass races give you lots of green for the new year!
