Deceleration

In Follow Up #76, Deceleration was measured as F3/F1. However, I see many instances now where Deceleration is measured as F3/Second Call. Which is correct?

They are both correct Jeebs:

Using all 3 Fr's there are several ways that deceleration is measured throughout the race, they are than combined into one rating or V/DC. I.e. HE is another and the difference between the 2nd and 1FR or how the second call was achieved.

Its really complicated stuff (from the sense of all the math and formulas involved) however it greatly improved the win percentages and gets better prices than just velocity alone.

This is also one of those things that one doesn't have to know all the formulas but if you can understand concept you'll get it. BLBL is another powerful one. They are blended combinations of several things that when combined are more powerful than a stand alone factor. Actually there are many times that a lesser TPR or Total Energy horses beat the better ones because they decelerate less or run more efficiently. Running styles has much to do with this.

Sticks

Thank you Mitch,

Hi Jeebs
I measure deceleration using the phase 1 EPR/LPR difference graph or sticks.
I am awful with numbers .

I keep it simple . The bigger the red stick , means more deceleration. Bigger blue sticks means less deceleration.

Doc uses a deceleration formula based on the EPR and TPR numbers in the original Pace Makes The Race

Thanks for the clarification guys! It seems like both are equally effective.
