Turf races

I have not played turf races in the past several years.
But since GP opened its winter meet in Dec. I thought I would apply the same guidelines I have published in the past for dirt races.
So far at GP & Tam I have played 78 turf routes.
I have had 72 winners, 62 exactas and 57 Tris in my contenders.
51 winners were in my top 2 final contenders.

Nice work Rich.

I've found Tam to be better than GP. GP plays that run up distance games much more which greatly effects a pace handicapper figures and lowering the strike rate.

A big key to turf races is to avoid the 3 yr old races that are fraught with many maidens on the turf and unknown factors. Those will drop your average a good 15%.

Again nice work and that survey gives you another nugget to exploit and advantage of a consistent approach.

Hi Richard

I am glad you are looking at GP turf.

I have been working GP races since the winter meeting and have been
using your guidelines

Only older male and female, races and only 7 or more entrants
No maiden and no race for 3-year-olds only.

It has been working well for me

thanks for the guidelines

Bill

This is probably heresy here, but I only work turf routes. It's where the value is, I find. For some reason turf routes with large fields are confusing to the public, I assume. That means I have limited plays, but I have limited time. My races for today were Tampa 7, GP 10, FG 8, SA 7 and 9. FG was running off the turf, so I dropped that race. I won the other 4, easily. Some decent prices. I make an exception to my large field rule for Santa Anita and Del Mar, as the betting public in Ca doesn't bet good runners down to oblivion, (sometimes). I'm sure anyone here could easily have won these races also. But if there are any questions I'd be happy to talk about my methods.
