Handicapping the handicappers

Recent posts suggest keeping records of the type of races where handicappers have done their best handicapping. I'm curious if there is any concensus as to the areas where success is more often found.

I have not kept such records, but I know that I don't fair well on the low end of the claiming ladder and I don't play many maiden races. Feature races on the weekends are pretty good sources for me, but thats usually when I play.

If enough people respond to this post we might be able to develop information that focuses on groups of races from which the most consistent profits come. Extending from that we might query those successful in a particular group to explain how or why their methods seem to work better.

Looking forward to your input,

Bill

Mid Claimer

Hi Bill
I have no records But back when i was able to be Philly
park almost daily I did real well with 12,000 - 15,000 claimers

At Philly they run 5.5 6.0 6.5 and 7.0 sprints
I did real well at 5.5 and 6.5 and 7.0

Routes were all good mostly they run 8.3 furlongs

I hardly ever do maiden races and the bottom level
races were not the same results as the mid claimers

Hi Bob,

Since db's were an intregral part of WorkHorse, I am curious why you are no longer keeping them? Thanks.

Jim

In our game a winner is either over bet or under bet. Here is a example of every runner with a line selected, but not more than three lines back.

And the results of the race. Some people will not bet maidens, go figure

Handicapping the Handicapper

Hi Jim . Workhorse will process a race, and give you the true contention
without the use of a DB. The purpose of the DB is to stack the horses in
the most predictive order.

I prefer to use the software to get the contention in the race , then i use other methods to stack the race. MatchUp, running styles, race shape, etc.

Handicapping the Handicappers

Fast, this is one of the most profitable race categories listed. A category 3 race. The exacta, tri, and super are in the top 7 horses.
This is how the race stacks without a DB. These are the true contenders.

13 , 10, 7, 2 , 9 ,16 ,11

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I saw in an earlier post you hoped to qualify for the NTRA toruney in 2007. I hope a bunch of us from Pace/Cap do. Maybe Bill will toss in some t-shirts if we make it :D

Jim
