Maximum Security survives another inquiry. Congrats to Luis Saez Attachment 48314 |
From what I've read this inquiry was a very controversial one again. My view is somewhat different than most others in that Mucho Gusto and Talamo crowded Max. Sec forcing him over. I believe he did come over but it was not his fault. Max. Sec. was in the lead and can't see behind him. Talamo plan was to pin him on the rail and take advantage of the situation, Max. Sec had enough class to pull away in the stretch and get free for the win.
In horses racing the horse to the outside is the dominant one, which causes others to give it up. It has to do with always being on the left side of its Mother who is the dominant one. A mental aspect that most can't overcome. The inquiry was rather fast IMO. One problem is the tendency not to DQ in very big races. Baffert IMO got away with another one. BTW I had a 7 &3 Ex. so I was hoping for an honest decision. There does tend to be a different standard depending on the purse of the race. Jocks do take advantage of blind spots on the track, but that's the track fault. Easily solved with an overhead drone. With all that said if I was the owner or trainer for Max. Sec. I would replace the jock, his reputation alone may cost him a decision in the future. Why chance it? Hope your well Bill and good skill to you. Mitch44 |
