Jim, Dan - let's redirect further discussion on the Pace Vector graphs or figs to the Original Thread started by Dan: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15329

Just trying to keep this Suggestions Thread as clean as possible.

Thanks,

Ted

Hey Ted,

I have several Excel worksheets set up with macros that create the vector data for me automatically, so if you want to ditch it, I am generating it myself, so it will not impact me.

The manuals and the follow ups spend many, many pages talking about the vectors. I do not think anyone can sum up there usefulness in a paragraph or two. Howard and Jimmy both thought they were powerful and Jimmy credited his handicapping genius to making the vector charts of races and studying them.

I think they have value for people who are willing to put in the work, they are proving useful for me in analyzing races, but I understand if people don't want them in the software. You are running a business, I understand if you take them out.

I think the current interim release 65 of RDSS is the best version you have made to date. It is wonderful. I look forward to using your software for many years to come. Thank you for maintaining and updating it.

Dan

Thanks for your kind comments about the current interim release of RDSS!

The Pace Vector figs are already in RDSS, so it's more work taking them out than leaving them there :). Only, there are approximately 129 other older factors from the 40+ years of Sartin Methodology which are also NOT showing in RDSS because of various reasons (redundant, superseded, no extra ongoing value, etc). I always like to include useful readouts that help focus the handicapping process, and I prefer that others, not just me, find them of value. A few others have commented to me privately about tentative interest on these figs and I await further current day feedback. I am hopeful of receiving that ... :)

Hi Viking,

It is relational, so there is no simple answer.

The pace vectors show how the horse did against the pace it was running against. So a 0.0, -0.17, -1.15 for example shows a horse contesting the early lead then falling behind as the race progresses. A -0.95, 0.25, 0.85 shows a horse that was close to the lead early, then started gaining in the 2nd fraction and gained even more in the 3rd fraction.
