Ted,

Are the little horses 3rd frac + 2nd call and then the numbers V/DC?

Froggy,

In Validator mode, the right-hand panel ranks are the VDC ranks as shown on the BL/BL screen. This is how Val4 shows it. I added the horses to show what the underlying VDC calculation itself is, scaled relative to each other (i.e. the horse furthest to the right is the highest value, the horse furthest to the left is the lowest value).

In Speculator mode, this same panel instead shows the F3+True Speed ranks, and the horse icons show the relative values. This is how Spec160 shows it.

RDSS differs from Spec and Val by showing not only the ranks, but also the relative scale value of the factor being ranked (e.g. so you can see that ranks #1 and #2 are perhaps very close together, OR very far appart, etc)

Thanks Ted,

That sort of explains why the positions of the horses do not directly relate to the numerical rank.

The Segment screen shows 2 different ways of viewing segments of the race: Computed Beaten Lengths (to the left) and Incremental Match Up Graph - IMUG (to the right, with the horse icons).

The 1st 2 panels of the IMUG correspond to fraction 1 velocity and fraction 2 velocity, as the header indicates. They are the same ranks and relative values shown on the Velocity screen.

The Computed Beaten Lengths (CBL) expresses relative velocity as lengths behind the leader at Fraction 1, Second Call and Finish (per the captions). CBL is a representation of energy values in units corresponding to a beaten length value at the appropriate race segment. The whole representation of who owns the best value at any call point has been termed the Dream Race concept in Sartin literature, and can be found in numerous Follow Ups, for various different programs and values being measured.

Hope that helped!

Froggy,

Forgot to mention, though it has been discussed before, that the VDC rank used is the better of the actual VDC rank OR the Primary Line Score (PLS). If you see a VDC rank 1, but the horse icon is clearly not the best, the 1 ranking is coming from the PLS.

VDC is a corollary, or a validating factor, to give weight to, or confirming evidence for, a BL/BL tier. Doc's thesis is you should consider the top 3 BL/BL tiers as equal in potential, then differentiate them according to mutuel offered. You can separate the BL/BL tiers as required by consulting corollaries such as VDC, Total Energy, etc. So a Tier 3 or 2 BL/BL horse with a good Velocity/Deceleration ratio is elevated in status as shown by its higher VDC rank.

In reading some of the recently posted Follow Ups, I have revisited Docs discussions on the genesis of V/DC, and it makes for some fascinating reading. Check Follow Ups #76, #77 and #78.

Ted,

Thanks again
