Another Small Turf Field

Here's a 5 horse field that produced a $13.20 mutuel, which I thought in this field was a gift. Again, I think the connections, as well as, the fact that I don't think the public thought this race could be won on the front end, created the value.

3rd race back was my power line on the #1 - fought for the lead in 45.4 109.4 and was very competitive. Today, she was going a 1/16 shorter and I didn't think she was going to have to fight. The only competition I saw was the #5 - I used the 4th race back as the power line with a nice power move.

However, even though it ran against the same pace of race as the #1, positionally, the #1 at 1-2-2-3 I thought would not be caught by the 7-7-6-2 of the #5 - too far back through the stretch call.

Well, the #1 broke well and eased to the lead with the #2 not far off her the whole way around - both the #2 and the #4 showed 1 race each in their last 10 where they took the lead.

The #1 was able to set the lead in 24.2 48.2 111.3. The 3,4,5 came on the outside of the 1 and 2 and at the top of the stretch, it looked like on line of horses. However, the one had something in the tank and was able to pull away a bit and hold off the M/L favorite.

The #1 actually held off the #4, who was dq'd, I guess for bumping the #2. I didn't have the "head on" view, but if the #2 did get bumped, he sure didn't flinch from the side view.

Here's the result chart
