Goals

Everyone has a right and privilege to have their own goals. What I like may not be for you, what you like might not be for me, and that's cool.
  • I read something on that "other" BBS site that I found "interesting"
  • A person posted that he liked "that" site better than "this" one. I have a neutral opinion about most of his reasons, except one. One of his reasons was, "better arguements". "Better Arguements"???
  • Besides taking a ride on 'em or pettin them once in a blue moon, the only reason I care about horse's is how much money I can suck out that parimutual window .
  • Isn't the primary goal of Thoroughbred handicapping is to win? Maybe I'm mistaken.
  • If "better arguements" is what you are looking for, then I guess you have a right to your hobby. Everyone has a right to their personal enjoyment. That's why they have debate clubs, Racing gossip, chat rooms, pen pals, racing news, etc.
  • I don't know about you, but if they did'nt shovel money thru that window, I would rarely even think about a horse .
    • You know the difference between an earnest quest for seeking the Truth, the ultimate Truth, and someone who just wants to "saber rattle", cross swords and spar.
    • But , I guess, that's cool too. They have various clubs , groups and organizations to entertain your hearts delite.
  • People have a right to their "thing". For some, enjoyment is debating, arguements, challenges, resisting, showing off thier intellect at whatever capacity that is, confrontations, going against the grain, dissention, etc,,; some amount of it has merit, but some of it is simply to do it for other reasons, like simply because you "can".
  • That's why I am with the Sartin Methodology. The absolute goal , in 99.9% of Pirco publishings is to WIN. Pirco defined "winning" in the confines of Paramutual investment. You "WIN" by walking out the track with "MORE" money in your pocket than when you walked in with. MORE is defined in an amount : 1)Totally make your living at the track, 2) Supplementing your living partially at the track. 3) Make enough that you can consistantly, pay , at least one or two bills.
  • Taking money out the window, Winning, is how you keep score and validate your methodology.
  • In my opinion, THIS is the best information center on that goal , since Pirco.
  • Some people, even me, on certain subjects, simply like conversation and rapping for conversation sake, that's cool. But when I talk about handicapping and winning, I want the winner, consistantly, period..
  • Don't get me wrong, I read that other board, and am a member. It serves a good purpose and I would be over there full time if this board werent here.
  • Before Pirco, I read all the "other" stuff, Phillips racing newsletter and all their reviews of different methods, angles, systems, Gamblers book store and all their stuff, etc,. When I came across Doc's stuff , there is nothing better then and now, in my opinion. If some stuff comes close, 99% of the time , it was stolen, borrowed, paralleled, copied from The Sartin Methodology, teachers included.
  • I want the WINNER ,consistantly, PERIOD. And rewarded with crisp denominations of that paper with profiles of various past Presidents of this great country.
  • Jockey news, Trainer news, Track news, Horses names , their sires and records, money earned, what the horse had for breakfast, historical implications, types of horseshoes he likes, racing secretaries nephew charitable hobbies, how many times a day a stakes horse takes a crap, etc,. does not interest me; only if it can slow , freeze or cripple the ability of the Paramutal powers to dump as much and as many legal tenders in me pocket as fast as possible. I notice that "REAL" winners either hardly post and when they do, it is mostly to humbly help people who are struggling to win., ie Bob Cochran, Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw, Pino, Richie, etc., This seems to be a consistant trait. Doc Sartin is one of the few exceptions. He could virtuoso in any subject related to Handicapping and Horseracing, but even then, converged the point toward winning and solidify winning ways, psychology and thinking processes.
  • Everyone has a right and a reason to their chosen past time and hobby, for whatever ultimate goal they aspire to, so God bless 'em. VoodooFan

Unforgiving

While I'm in a "gitty up" mood , another chap on that other board is "interesting".
  • I loved every issue of the Follow Up. I liked all the editors.
  • Dick Schmidt gave it a good flavor and variety. In my humble opinion, it's open what can and can't be forgiven of any transgressions , percieved or real.
  • But one thing that can't be forgiven : Some of the summitted writings of Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw that was never published in the Follow Up while Dick Schmidt was editor. Now THAT is unforgivable.
  • Arguably, one of the Top handicapper and winner of the 20th and 21st , and you don't publish his stuff ???
  • I guess if the legendary Pittsburg Phil summitted articles to the FollowUp, and the editor either, disagreed, could'nt comprehend, or some other self directed judgement that some of his work is "un-worthy" of publishing, I suppose "The Maxims of Pittsburg Phil " would be , at best, a 2-page book.
  • Reading some of his post, and listening to him on tape, he is pretty good and entertaining and inspirational: but when he "joke's" about "his" contributions ; whether teaching, input into handicapping ,brilliant statements or points made and personal success; NOT that he should'nt be proud of what he's achieved , I can attest to that, he DOES and CAN bring good stuff. I'm seriously thinking , maybe, he's NOT joking, that he's murderously dead serious. Time , success and age can "feed" the monster within us all. VoodooFan
