DRF variant adjustments

There has been a little bit of discussion regarding adjusting time using the daily variant...
FWIW, I have used a chart by Wm Scott with some success......
DRF variant/ adjustment
9/+7 fifths
10/+6
11/+5
12/+4
13/+3
14-15/+2
16-17/+1
19,19,20/0
21-22/-1
23-24/-2
25-26/-3
27-28/-4
29-30/-5
31-32/-6
33-34/-7

I have read to adjust final time using the full adjustment and pace call time using 1/2 the adjustment (rounding down).
Any comments if this is plausable??

Cecil,
Back in 1991 I learned how to apply the Drf variant to a paceline by a pro. He was teaching me the way to use Sartin's Tpr numbers from "Pace makes the Race" book.

Here is what he did fwiw:

17 was default as 0 adjustment
16-18 = 0 adjustment
15 = -1
14 = 1.5
13 = -2
12 = -2.5
11 = -3
10 = -3.5
9 = -4
8 = -4.5
7 = -5 Ok he stressed to AVOID like the plague using variants less than 7 or more than 27 but if I HAD no other choice than to subtract 1 fifth for 1 point from here on in
6 = -6
5 = -7
4 = -8

Use the same scale just adding instead of subtracting going up from 17
19 = +1
20 = +1.5
21 = +2
22 = +2.5
23 = +3
24 = +3.5
25 = +4
26 = +4.5
27 = +5
28 = +6
29 = +7
30 = +8

Now regarding applying adjustment to pace calls he used 60% of the adjustment(rounding to closest whole number) and applied that to 2nd call. The book said use 65% in sprints and 60% in routes but he used 60% rounded to closest whole number. He never touched the first fraction.

Using 17 as ground zero holds up today. I averaged the drf variant from my database of all tb races >= 4.5 furlongs for the last 3 years, couple hundred thousand races, and got 16.8.

Richie,
If adjusting times, shouldn't the minuses be plusses and vice versa.
If adjusting the speed fig, I think they are fine.
Or, am I thinking in reverse. Long day at the pharmacy(and busy).
Cecil
where's the recipe????? I am very hungry. (just kidding, whenever is ok)
