technologically challenged

okay for over 20 years now ive worked up pace numbers with a calculator and have been hesitant to move to computer software due to my ignorance in technology. I have RDSS2 downloaded and have the demo downloaded now what? I cannot figure out how to find the demo in the RDSS2 program. Excuse me for my ignorance.

Welcome Bill,

Basically, after installing RDSS2 (and also RDSS1 for the time being), and installing the Demo Database, (and after Registering RDSS2 with your TrackMaster account ID) you must 'point' RDSS2 towards the 2010 Demo Database file, as described here: http://www.sartinmethodology.com/rdss-demo-database

In summary, go to your Configure Tab, click the Edit Configure.ini button, scroll the Configure file to find the [Database] section, disable the default database by placing a ; (semi-colon character) in front of its line (the line which reads ...Rdss Database...), thus enabling the other database - 2010 Demo Database. Save, restart RDSS, then look in the 'past' section of the Sidebar at the left side of the RDSS screen.

In the next release (in a week or so), this will all be much easier to do within the software - no Config file editing and you can easily switch between several databases. Meanwhile, if you can't get it to work, just email me and I'll give you a call.

(Don't forget to install the Demo Database, and to Register RDSS2 with your TrackMaster account ID, or you won't be able to open any databases).

All the best,

Ted

Hi
It's been awhile since i used the database, but ill try and help.

Did you install RDSS1 as well?

Open RDSS2, on the right hand side you should have a column named "Race Cards by Date". Double click on "Past", you should have the database races there, double click on a date of your choice, then left click on one of the tracks. It should take you to the "Race Cards" screen, left click on one of the races and you're good to go. It's a good idea to read through the threads on the forum, it will explain all of the readouts and make life a lot easier for you.

If that doesn't work, Ted will be along shortly to help you out, i don't have the database loaded myself so i cant say for sure if what i told you is correct, good luck with that and welcome to Pace and Cap.

Nevermind, Ted beat me to the punch. lol
