I have spoken to experienced horsemen in Europe, Asia and Australia, and the world wide concurrence is that Red was in a class by himself and no horse this side of 1950 (save maybe Native Dancer, Forego and Fager) could have come close to him.

Fist time on the grass defeats the leading grass horse in track record time (one of the finalist's for grass horse of the year Tentam winner of the Tobaggon, Met Mile, Bernard Baruch, UN Cap at Atlantic City). Two world's records at three never extended, beating Cougar II (SA Handicap, Century Cap, Sunset handicap, placed Holly Gold Cup, Marlboro and Woodward) amongst other very good ones like the Canadian Champion Kennedy Road and his stable mate Riva Ridge).

Three Triple Crown races, three track records. First time on the grass takes a full second off the Belmont track record for 12 furlongs. The Marlboro runs against a 45.3, 109.1, 133.0 and passes them all at the top of the lane in a new world's record of 145.3 besting the old record of 146.1

His Belmont 23.3 22.3 23.3 24.2 24.4 24.4 the ESSENCE of power over a distance all on his own.

This comparison, quite frankly, is baloney.
