race 9 Forego at Saratoga

In a wide-open and good betting race, I will concentrate on three horses in a potentially ding-dong stake.

The most accomplished is the morning line choice Kodiak Kowboy (5-2), who seeks to win at Saratoga for the third-straight year. 'Kodiak' is the most accomplished and deserving of favoritism.

But there are two horses I will include that just might make for a juicy exacta and trifecta, and will be used in my Pick 4s. If either of these other two click, then the Pick 4, Rachel Alexandra notwithstanding, might pay quite handily.

The two longer priced horses I like are the #9 Law Enforcement (12-1) , and the #7 Driven By Success (10-1).

Law Enforcement is a NY-bred who won a state-bred stake August 6 in exceedingly fast time going 6 1-2 furlongs. It was his second straight win and while he was in hand, the field was small with just five running. That's always a concern when horses run huge in small fields; was the effort legit or was it an example of the very best of a poor bunch.

His late-running ability -- probably the race's best closer -- will come in handy as the early goings are expected to be red-hot.

I believe his last race was legit because the other horse I like is the real deal, too, Driven By Success, who set all the fractions except the final time when second. Note also that he has never beaten open types but was just 1 1-2 lengths off of the sensational Bribon in the definitive Met Mile at Belmont when third.

"Driven' has often demostrated the talent to set a hot pace and be there late to do battle to the wire. The pace will be very contentious, I am sure.

So, we'll use these three in an exacta and trifecta box, and double up 'Kodiak' top and bottom with these two NY-bred steeds.

That's 2-9-7 in your program for those that can't read; don't get wiped out.
