Hi Jeff,
I think you are on the right track, however if you are wagercapping, I would recommend no more than 2-3% of your bankroll in a race. As far as betting 50/50 or something else (like 60/40), I suggest looking over your records over time to see how your first and second choices perform. I think 50/50 is a good jumping off point if you are betting 2 horses to win. I think a weekly adjustment is good as well (to either increase/decrease amount bet or to pay yourself a dividend).
