This is very interesting, but I think may be going too far, as a hit, thou not always profitable, is still a hit.

I admit my strategy in my 25 w/p on 2 horses gives me a better chance to get a hit per race, than say a single 100 win or even place wager on 1 horse.

The same would be for a 50 Place wager on 2 horses, the same possible hit rate chance as my 25 w/p would be, except that my return might be higher.

You guys seem to suggest if we bet 100 in the race, which is what we do, that if the return is less than 100, we do not get a hit, like I have done quite a few times only hitting part of my wagers, and maybe getting 60.00 or so back on the race, sometimes even less, even on a win wager a few times, as it fell to near even odds, but I did pick the winner, a direct hit, no?

I am sure a few of us have played the way we did to get the most hits possible ( this being a major concern), and then hoped that we would profitable as a result (this being a minor concern) .

I agree ,if you are playing real money, profit is the true motivation for what we do, not hits, which is what 1/9 - 6/5 or so do, make you loser's with winning bets, unless you make 1 bet and hit enough.

If the contest is only about ROI, then hit rate should not be considered in the formula, but since it is currently, and being above 50% in the hit rate gets you a free month, then people adjust and wager accordingly, even if a 10.00 place bet gives them a hit, but definetly not breaking them even for the race, again , just my thoughts.

I am able to adapt to what ever we do for this contest, it is fun and I for one enjoy it, even if next month I hit 3 races out fo 20, because we know this happens in racing.
