Last year, this 4 month Contest (Saturdays, ending with the Kentucky Derby) was
won by one of the 6 RDSS affiliated Teams:
Squatheads RDSS (dogkatcher - goatchaser - auntjanet). Another RDSS affiliated Team -
Pens Pens RDSS (cdax - gaz - Rverge) finished
4th overall. Another RDSS
Team Sartin (Hoof 11 - Midland333 - Ted Craven) finished in 1st place for the Regular Season (after 15 weeks, but died in the playoffs!)
So - RDSS
owns this Contest (to a certain extent ...
).
So now it's time to organize our teams again this year! The following Teams are returning for sure:
- Dangerous Dams and a (new) Dude
- Team Texas
- Team Sartin
Will the other teams return as well? Will there be new Teams to join in the hunt? Please feel free to use this thread to seek out other players to form a
3 person team with.
You do NOT have to use RDSS - you can use ANY handicapping tool or method you like. The Contest is an Inter-board Handicapping League (
Pace
Advantage,com
Inter-board
Handicapping
League) - various online or real-world handicapping communities (e.g. PaceandCap.com), or affiliations with a particular software (e.g. RDSS) or method (e.g. Matchup).
The Rules for
2014 are being finalized and will be posted on Monday December 9 -->

Basically, 8 races are chosen each Saturday from January 4 through May 3 (Kentucky Derby Day). Teams collaborate to make selections and list 3 picks and alternates. The picks are scored based on Win, Place and Show mutuels, and an Exacta Box on the 3 (bonus given for only 2 picks). Teams accumulate points each week based on their finish rank that week. A Finals series follow the Regular Season - leading to a 2 day Finale on Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days.
Last year's prizes were
$1500 cash and
$1500 in ADW deposit credits, plus free RDSS data, subscriptions and mentoring. This year's Sponsor and Prizes are still under construction ...
It's a long contest which rewards both
consistency and certain (though reasoned)
risk taking. It was a wonderful experience getting to know and work collaboratively with my team-mates! Please consider joining
if you are able to make a commitment to much of the entire 4 month of Saturdays (it's OK to take some breaks, covered by your team-mates).
Ladies and Gentlemen - start your engines!
