5 horse field with a tandem reversal

Haven't posted much for a while so I thought I would share a nice little nugget, Race 2 from Finger Lakes today.

A five horse field with a dominant local favourite in #2 Rico Capote. The nine year old gelding was 6/9 with 3 in a row and was bet down to 4-5. This time though there were two other sprinters equal to the task of keeping him honest with an opening quarter in the 22.3 range. Only one OTE had been successful against that pace. And that was Lenny #6. He had been trounced by #2 both times they had met. But this time there was more pace pressure and maybe a tandem reversal was in order. Rico never made the lead and was cooked by the half. He did fight on bravely to manage third however . Second went to the only other OTE.

It of course wasn't a slam dunk but with #2 already on 3 in a row and the matchup against him, this is what we wait for. Nice prices for win and place with the odds on runner in third.

Happy Matching,
Pook
