RDSS & Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby Day data file is available now from TrackMaster.

Just a reminder to those newcomers or to those whose memory has faded somewhat since last May - RDSS gets somewhat challenged by the Derby 20 horse field.

Firstly, you need to be using the latest version 0.98.8.

Second, you most likely need to load RDSS and go straight to the Derby race in order for all 20 horses to load. If you work other races on that card (or a different card) then switch to the Derby, RDSS will probably crash. If you load and assemble all 20 horses' Past Performances, but the software crashes after you have more than about 15 of 16 pacelines selected, try eliminating lines for non-contenders so that you never have more than that many lines in the Analysis screens at the same time.

It's even possible, depending on your Windows version and your physical memory and what other programs you are running at the same time, that you may need to first reboot your computer, then load RDSS, then load the Derby race. In this scenario, once you have the Derby loaded in RDSS, you can then load some of the other programs you normally use.

This (along with all other memory management issues) gets better in Version 2.0. If anyone has trouble getting the Derby to load after following the above suggestions, please just make a post here or write to support@sartinmethodology.com.

Good luck everyone in the 2010 Derby - and don't forget to join our Triple Crown Contest and show us how it's done!

cheers,

Ted
