This summer Del Mar has had mega-paying winners even in the Feature races. Leaving pace and speed handicapping aside I've applied the updated APV method as described by Ted. If a horse, in fairly good form, gets the highest APV score by a standout margin, he can win no matter what the pace or speed picture indicates. So do not discount this type of runner. Either avoid the race or do some quinella with him in the mix.

I don't know why Del Mar has been so difficult this meet. But I have found that DM has ALWAYS been tougher than say Santa Anita. Maybe its the sea breeze or the waxy track surface.
